Badminton has always been a small Co- Curricular Activity ( CCA ) with at most 30 boys . Although a very popular CCA to join at all levels , there is difficulty taking in more students even if it is for recreation . With only three courts and one coach , the constraints were never hindrances to our achievements , as for the last three years , the boys have built upon the previous batchʼs success to improve themselves .
Despite not getting the top tier of DSA boys for each Secondary One cohort , Badminton is still able to attain our best result thus far , 4th in Nationals for the ‘ C ’ Division in 2012 .

Pilot Pen Cup Competition Both the ‘ B ’ and ‘ C ’ Division teams qualified for the semi-finals in the annual Pilot Pen Cup Competition ( South Zone ). They defeated 10 schools with a stunning score of 5-0 . The ‘ B ’ Division emerged 4th while the ‘ C ’ Division came in 3rd .
South Zone Inter-school Badminton Championship The badminton season this year started on a high note for both the ‘ B ’ and ‘ C ’ Divisions . Both team won resounding victories over other schools to qualify for the semi-finals . The ‘ B ’ and ‘ C ’ teams attained 4th and 3rd placing respectively and were geared up to meet other top 4 schools of the other zones in the Nationals .
National Inter-school Badminton Championships Both teams faced tough challenges from top badminton teams of other schools from other zones . Yet , our ‘ C ’ Division team cruised to the second round of the Nationals after a historical win over the power house :
Singapore Sports School . Nevertheless , our ‘ B ’ Division proceeded to the second round after defeating Hwa Chong Institution with a score of 4-1 . For the ‘ C ’ Division , they defeated tough opponents like Monfort Secondary School and clinched 4th position .
Despite the tremendous effort put in , the seeded ‘ B ’ Division team did not manage to get into the semi-finals of the Nationals . Though disappointed , the players were heartened by the spirit of camaraderie among themselves .
Coach , Mr Simon Koh given his sterling background as a former national badminton team player , has been instrumental in the formation of the players . They are privileged to be under his guidance and tutelage and will train harder to compete in the next season of games .
