CORNELL ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX IN JOPLIN , BESHORE PERFORMANCE HALL : " Come sail the high seas with six New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players in a night of classic comedy as they perform a one-act of ' The Pirates of Penzance .' Then , after intermission , the performers return to entertain the audience with selections from Gilbert & Sullivan comic operas , including impromptu audience requests . The cost for tickets is $ 40- $ 45 , plus fees .

LAMAR , AND HARRY S . TRUMAN STATE HISTORIC SITE : Join in the community celebration in Harry Truman ' s hometown . The 33rd president was born in Lamar on May 8 , 1884 . Activities will be held throughout the day , including World War I re-enactors , music entertainment , a baby show , a dog show , historic games for children , a bounce house , a petting zoo , craft and food vendors , wagon rides and more .
