For those looking for historic sites , the former city jail and fire department in Neodesha , Kansas , may be a great destination .
The jail , built in 1906 , is next to the city ’ s original firehouse . Both buildings have been restored and converted into Airbnb destinations by owner Kim Petrulis , who grew up in Neodesha
She said the jail , which operated until the 1970s , has been modernized into a studio space but stays true to its roots with its wall graffiti , newspaper archives and the original cell door .
The former Neodesha Fire Department offers a king bedroom that was formerly the firehouse locker-room , or take a step into the fire chief ’ s office .
The old city jail can house up to two guests for $ 87 per night ; the Hook & Ladder firehouse can house up to six guests for $ 133 per night .
