They are analyzing a “Sonatina” by Ruben Dario (a poem). He hands them the poem and the
notes for the lecture. The teacher also analyzes the poem for the students as they read it.
They are last year students and have recently taken their DELE exams. According to the
teacher, most of the students can certify a C1 level of Spanish. However, we can see that the
majority of the students can hardly keep up with the lecture and understand the poem (they
can’t identify literary figures, for example). They seem also unable to understand some of the
expressions the teacher uses (finisecular or acopio, for example).
