11 4th year Maths in Spanish(Luis Gil)
The teacher (Spanish native) conducts a Maths lecture in Spanish. It is a regular Maths class,
there isn’t any scaffolding or any use of Slovak. The class is entirely in Spanish. The lesson
is about polygons (students have the lecture in pdf online) and there are some exercises
done. Students solve problems on the whiteboard. We can see that their Spanish isn’t as
good as their English, which is surprising as they have been in the GBZA for four years, using
Spanish regularly. It is not, however, necessary to be very proficient in Spanish language, as
it is just a Maths class where language patterns keep repeating. No CLIL methodology
whatsoever
