MONTH IN REVIEW www.jewelleryfocus.co.uk DIAMONDS Gemporia partners with Argyle Diamond mine for exclusive collection Gemporia, a British TV jewellery channel, has partnered with Rio Tinto’s Australian diamond division to create a new collection of Argyle Diamond jewellery exclusively for Gems TV. The collection will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Gemporia and a record of the diamond’s Mark of Authenticity. Gemporia said it “prides itself” on the traceability and provenance of all its gemstones, adding it’s something that is often only possible “through close relationships with mine owners”. Gems TV’s hosts will be joined by Rio Tinto’s, sales and marketing director of Australian Diamonds, Vikram Merchant, for a weekend of live shows between 5 and 7 April. Merchant said: “Today’s consumer wants to know where their jewellery comes from and the Australian Diamonds Programme celebrates Rio Tinto’s diamond heritage and pedigree from a clean, traceable source of diamonds.” Gemporia’s founder and chairman, Steve Bennett, added: “We pride ourselves on implementing ethical practices throughout our daily trade – it is at the heart of what our brand stands for. “We want to bring transparency and integrity, remove the mistrust, misinformation around the authenticity of diamonds. Our partnership with Rio Tinto’s Australian Diamonds establishes the true spirit of bringing diamonds straight from the mines to our customers.” 6 JEWELLERY FOCUS 1 EVENTS Fiyah Jewellery launches second annual competition Fiyah jewellery has announced the return of its Fiyah Jewellery Award which aims to help budding jewellery designers and artists to express themselves and promote their work. The Longbridge Club Rose Gold features an 18ct Rose Gold Case and a satin polished finish, “complemented” by a burnished-brown alligator strap, in homage to the saddlery of English clubs from the 1930s. Meanwhile, the Longbridge Nightfall’s 41mm case is made from palladium, and is combined with a midnight- blue alligator strap to highlight to the “majesty of night”. The company said the collection’s timepieces and movements are “innovative for the radical way the time is displayed”, which is achieved by drawing on three horological complications. A statement by the group read: “The retrograde minute at 240° recalls the R.P.M. counters, the manometers and the depth gauges. The jumping hour recalls mileage meters and the power reserve display echoes the fuel and oil gauges. “The patented mechanical movement features an ETA2824 made of 124 components (The collaboration of the patented movement is by the same company who created the Opus 14). Precision, exactitude and reliability: this is all about measuring time, delivering performance and assessing risk factors.” April 2019 | jewelleryfocus.co.uk
