ASSAM SOCIETY OF BANGALORE From the desk of Chief Advisor, Assam Society of Bangalore-

Dear Friends,
It gives me immense pride, pleasure and privilege to take this opportunity to wish each one of you a very happy Rongali Bihu 2013, a very prosperous Assamese New Year and to welcome you all to‘ Bohagi Adoroni 2013’, the 15 th Annual Bihu Celebrations of the Assam Society of Bangalore.
This is the time of the year wherein the entire Assamese community comes alive in absolute abandon, it is the time of the year when great gaiety goes hand in hand with great glamour showcased through exquisite new designs of the muga and paator mekhala chadors, it is the time of year for renewing old ties even so new ones are getting tied, it is the time of the year for bahi, pepa and the dhol to create music magic, the time of the year to dress up & dance to be a‘ Bihu Konwori’, the time of the year to gorge on delectable pitha’ s and laru’ s, time to forget and forgive, time to take blessings from our elders while enjoying the proceedings with our peers; friends lets welcome Rongali Bihu 2013 with great fun, frolic and fervor at Bangalore.
The past year had been a tad tumultuous for the Assamese community here in Bangalore with the exodus issue becoming a significant one, however, with the support of the Karnataka Government officials and in particular the Bangalore City Police Department, the entire situation was quickly brought under control effectively and efficiently. It gives me immense pleasure to inform that Assam Society of Bangalore played a pivotal role in this entire episode and worked very closely with the Government machinery in managing the situation.
Rongali Bihu is our new year wherein we forget and forgive the past and look forward to welcoming fresh beginnings in our lives. At Assam Society of Bangalore too this is the same philosophy wherein in the coming New Year we will be working towards driving peace, progress and prosperity at all times. We will be looking to have many more socio-cultural and youth welfare initiatives to maximize the potential of our people as well as provide opportunities to be responsibly engaged for the betterment of our community.
Happy Rongali Bihu & Joi Ai Axom!

Warm Bihu Wishes simanta
