I was able to get in a game of golf at a really nice resort course that had alligators and the greens went right out onto the beaches. It only cost $ 80 for 18 holes including the club rentals from the hotel and this was reasonable.
It took us a few days to warm up to Hilton Head after we found a nice Asian restaurant one night. We then navigated further North to visit our close friends Judy and Hugh in Greensboro North Carolina. It was the first time that we had seen their new house and it was spectacular and the visit was fun. They took us for a drive on the back roads to look for some old farmhouses and we found some. We also visited their daughter’ s university to take some photos.
Afterwards we drove up to Charleston, South Carolina and visited the Boon Hall Plantation that had some incredibly old and glamorous buildings and the famous Avenue of the Oaks that was featured in several movies. Charleston was a bit disappointing. In retrospect, we could have visited several other plantations that would have been very interesting but we didn’ t schedule for this extra time.
A few more hours driving North and we made it to my sister’ s house, Marcelle in Fort Mill South Carolina. We were so proud to have been able to drive on the right side of the road and Mimi did a great job at navigation. We stopped into one gas station in a remote road and it was very interesting. They had a sale on shotguns and ammo that was right at the check out area! I think it was turkey hunting season at the time. We found our way to Marcelle’ s and had another great visit with her and Mike. I was able to have a round of golf but no tennis this time as it was a bit too cold. We then drove further North to my other sister Linda in Virginia for a few days visit. We played golf and a bit of tennis and visited with my Niece Nicole, her
