SNIPPETS Mumbai | 18th August, 2012 - 7th November, 2012 | Vol.2 www.jbcnschool.edu.in Pages 6 | Free Field Trips The Car Spa Trip The learners of Nursery had a field day as they got to visit a Car Spa on the 3rd of September. They were taken to St. Francis Technical Institute at Borivali (W). The children were amazed as they went through different sections accompanied by a guide who explained the various aspects of the car spa. They also witnessed the process of car paint, car wash, repairing a car, car lift, etc. The mechanics explained the body parts of the car and their functions. They also conveyed the importance of following traffic signals. The Nehru Planetarium On a Saturday afternoon, the Senior Kg learners were taken to Nehru Planetarium. The objective was to give a deeper insight to the learners about our solar system. The children were excited about travelling to South Mumbai in by school bus. At the planetarium, they enjoyed seeing the models of planets, the cluster formations and the Milky Way. Though they didn't follow the commentary during the show, it didn't stop them from enjoying the visual treat of the planets revolving and the comets shooting across above their heads. The learners came home tired yet eager to narrate their experiences. Festival time at JBCN School. Onam On the festival of Onam, the learners learnt about the significance of and traditions and customs associated with this festival. Through the Powerpoint Presentation shown during assembly, they appreciated the rich heritage of the land of Kerala. A Pookalam (flower rangoli) competition was organized. It was remarkable to note how the learners were led by their fervor and creativity. Judging the winner was a tough decision; ultimately the results showed that the Gladiators had won. Navratri Celebration Dussehra, the festival that highlights the victory of good over evil, was celebrated at JBCN. The learners understood the meaning of the term 'Navaratri' and the representations and worship of the various forms of Durga, Lakshmi and Sarasvati. A garba was organized for the learners. Dressed in the traditional wear, it was a riot of colours and enthusiasm. The learners swayed to the beats of popular Navaratri songs and the day in school ended with the desire for it to go on.
