Diwali
With Diwali round the corner, JBCN learners could not control their enthusiasm. The school and classrooms were decorated
with handmade diyas, lanterns and festoons. The excitement seemed to spread around
and the grandmother of a Senior Kg learner spent hours decorating the school with
rangoli. During assembly the learners learnt of the story of Diwali, the origin of
customs and safety measures to be observed while lighting fire crackers. The last day of
school was spent in games, fun, food, drinks and mithai.
Besides these festivals, the learners learnt about other festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi,
Bakri Eid and Halloween. During the assembly teachers led discussions about the origin
and significance of these festivals. As a culminating activity, the learners of every house prepared a symbol for the festivals
they had learnt about during this academic year. These symbols were then merged together to form a collage. Learners also
brought out the similarities between a Western festival like Halloween and our Indian festivals.
