Job Summary Performs supervisor , technical and professional civil engineering work relating to the design , construction , and maintenance of all City engineering projects , public works construction , as well as project management ; performs all other related work as required .
Primary responsibilities for this position include leading the continued implementation and advancement of our asset management and GIS data collection program ; developing designs / design plans using AutoCAD / Civil3D , permitting , and construction for CIP-funded projects ; and oversight of third-party engineers for City projects . Projects include roads and streetscapes , sidewalks and multi-use trails , traffic signals , water distribution systems , sanitary sewer collection systems , drainage systems among others . The engineering team also completes plan review for site plan and subdivision applications and performs construction oversight for private development projects .

Education , Training and Experience :
Minimum of Bachelor of Science Degree in civil engineering , Master ’ s desirable . Seven to ten years ’ experience in the field of civil engineering ( in municipal public works desirable .
Other combinations of education and experience that qualify an individual to perform the requisite job duties and responsibilities may be considered . Knowledge , Ability and Skill :
Thorough knowledge of local , state , and federal laws and regulations governing municipal infrastructure . Thorough knowledge of modern methods and techniques of civil engineering as applied to the design , construction and maintenance of public works projects and facilities . Knowledge of the principles and practices of administrative management . Knowledge of how to read and design plans , construction documents , specifications and contracts . Ability to design roadway drainage , water , and sewer systems . Ability to perform cost estimates . Ability to make decisions and find solutions to engineering problems . Ability read and design plans and to prepare cost estimates . Excellent oral and written communication skills . Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word , PowerPoint , and Excel ; varied engineering programs , GIS , Munismart and report generation .
Licenses / Certifications :
Professional Engineer ( PE ) License in the State of New Hampshire . LPA Certified . Valid driver ’ s license .
