Meeting Minutes
President :
Nominations from the floor : Steve Tibbetts ( Hollywood Riders ) nominated Lynn Ellen St . Martin ( Crow River Riders ). Lynn Ellen accepted the nomination . Motion made by Glenn Strube ( Tri-County Riders of Watertown ), seconded by Julie Gintner ( MN Valley Riders ), to cease nominations and cast white ballot vote for Lynn Ellen St . Martin as President . Motion carried unanimously .
Vice President Nominations from the floor : Steve Tibbetts ( Hollywood Riders ) nominated Rachel Duenow ( Jus Kiddin Around ). Rachel accepted the nomination .
Cindy Ladd ( Over Easy Riders ) nominated Steve Bobzin ( North Central Morgan Assoc .). Steve declined the nomination . Motion made by Nancy Loen ( Waska Riders ), seconded by Ann Goebel ( Heartland Riders Saddle Club ), to cease nominations and cast white ballot vote for Rachel Duenow as Vice President . Motion carried unanimously .
Committee Reports :
Championship Horse Show : Steve Tibbetts The entry system had some challenges . Great help from Lynn , Rachel , James , and Amber . We had a lot a great volunteers this year at Champ Show . Have received the final bill from State Fair and working on reducing some items . We have enough trophies for the next 5 years . Thanks to James for his help with setting up all the stalls and taking them down . He ’ s been very helpful and a great asset to WSCA .
Al Spidahl noted that there were some exhibitors that ran more than once in 4-in-a-line . He questioned if there was a team that was not allowed to run . From what was recalled , a team was not denied to run .
Melissa Willams wanted to verify the numbers for splitting classes . For PeeWees there are no more than 20 , and for other divisions there are no more than 30 .
Computer : Jake Flodquist Absent . Nothing to report .
Drills and Squares : Marlys Mooney Absent . Both the Wright Saddle Club and Exclusive Equine Cent ( The Flying E ’ s ) had good performances at the MN State Fair . Wright performed both their drill and square dance . The Flying E ’ s were new to the State Fair this year and did a great job . They had such a good time that they are planning to return next year and would like to add a performance on Saturday night if the State Fair office agrees to that . If there are any groups out there that are thinking this is something they would like to learn , Marlys is willing to help them get started .
Futurity : Kathy Murphy Absent . Nothing to report .
Historian : Tim Wampfler Nothing to report .
Judges : Kim Ziegler Absent . Sara Schwartz ( absent ) reported that Jennifer Andrist has a complete application and ready for testing in 2023 . One applicant is missing a letter of recommendation and is aware of this . We are looking into combining the 2023 Judges Clinic with the MN State 4-H Judges Clinic . The tentative dates are March 24-25 . The location is to be determined . The information on the website has been updated . Working with Sandy to update the procedures and also working on updating the Judges test before testing in the spring .
Marketing & Promotions : Rachel Duenow Al Spidahl asked about the digital Spotlight and why we don ’ t give the option of mailing a Spotlight . Lynn explained that we could not financially continue to print Spotlights and WSCA was losing $ 7.25 per Spotlight . Each year WSCA was losing tens of thousands of dollars .
Ad revenue is way up . With Facebook we have 8,837 followers . The funds from the coliseum boxes are donated to the Scholarship fund . Had over 70,000 hits on the live video streaming from Champ Show . For the digital Spotlight , it is reaching 3,000 people as to where the mailed Spotlight reached 250 people . The online Champ Show edition was very successful and had 1500 opens . The November / December Spotlight will go out mid-November .
