Brooke Dickenson has appreciated the community since her youth

By Pamplin Media Group
Charbonneau Country Club welcomes its new activities coordinator , Brooke Dickenson . In an interview with Pamplin Media Group , Dickenson discussed her childhood visits to Charbonneau , event-planning background , singing hobby and more .
Q : Can you tell me a little bit about yourself ( where you grew up , your professional background , your family , etc .)
A : I graduated from McMinnville High School , moved to New York City after graduation and worked as a nanny and started my experience in the event world , helping plan and throw parties and events in both New York , Virginia Beach and Florida . After several years , I made my way back to Oregon and focused on having my three wonderful children , Kyia , 24 , Laila 19 , and Kade , 12 . I Started a wedding and event planning business and worked throughout Yamhill County for many years , eventually deciding I wanted to focus on public events and made my way to The Oregon Garden and Oregon Garden Resort working as the public event manager .
Q : What attracted you to want to work in Charbonneau and what are your impressions so far ?
A : Growing up as a child , we spent many summers coming to Charbonneau and enjoyed swimming in the pool and spending time at my great aunt and uncle ’ s home . I always told myself that someday I would live in Charbonneau because it was so beautiful and everyone was so friendly , warm and welcoming . Fast forward many years later and I see there is a job opening for the event and activities coordinator and it made me so excited for the opportunity to be a part of Charbonneau . Many call this community
‘ A cruise ship on land ,’ which is entirely true .
Q : Can you tell me a bit about your role with Charbonneau Country Club ?
A : I am the activities coordinator here for the entire community of Charbonneau . My job is to work with our residents ,
DICKENSON groups , HOAs and staff to schedule and help facilitate hundreds of different meetings and events . I also help to plan and coordinate varying events hosted by Charbonneau Country Club . We are focusing on bringing more music into the community with concert series and new special events for all of our residents to enjoy .
Q : What are your favorite hobbies and what do you enjoy about them ?
A : I love paddleboarding , kayaking , golfing ( although I am just learning ), fishing , camping , gardening , music and throwing a great party or event !
Q : What is a movie , TV show or book you have enjoyed recently ?
A : I don ’ t really have a lot of time to watch TV but I do enjoy movie nights with my family when we can all get together . I am a documentary fan , but recently enjoyed watching the newest “ Top Gun ” movie , although there is nothing like the original .
Q : Do you have a fun fact about yourself you would like to share ?
A : I love to sing and was in choir most of my life . I got to travel with a church youth group choir for a couple of years and really enjoyed that . Anyone who knows me well has definitely heard me singing or attempting to sing whenever I hear a song I like .
