The Hong Kong Network also hosted its Second Charity Quiz, kindly sponsored by Allen & Overy and Maples and Calder, where 13 teams pitted their wits against each other and raised over US$4,500 for the winning team’s charity – Habitat for Humanity.
A film screening of local Hong Kong documentary She Objects, in support of the positive portrayal of women in the media was held on October 18, kindly sponsored by Linklaters. An amount of US$2,300 was raised for The Women’s Foundation. Click here to see pictures of the film screening.
On November 9, the Hong Kong Network launched another inaugural event with the Speed Networking Lunch, thanks to the generous support of Borelli Walsh. The event received huge interest from members and friends of IWIRC and was sold out within three days! 49 attendees were assigned to three different tables during the course of the event, allowing them to network with different groups of people during lunch – the buzz is already out there with people excited about the next one!

Greater Maryland Network
Investiture of Hon. Lori Simpson
The honorable judges of the United States District Court and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District Of Maryland hosted the investiture of the Hon. Lori S. Simpson. The event was held at the Greenbelt Division of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland on October 20, 2016, and was followed by a reception held in the courthouse lobby after the investiture. Many of the Greater Maryland members attended, including: Hon. Nancy Alquist (U.S. Bankruptcy Court), Lisa Stevens (Yumkas, Vidmar, Sweeney & Mulrenin), Corinne Adams (Yumkas, Vidmar, Sweeney & Mulrenin), Angela Shortall (Protiviti), Catherine Hopkin (Tydings & Rosenberg), Marguerite Lee DeVoll (Linowes and Blocher), Maria Ellena Chavez-Ruark (Saul Ewing), and Kristen Siracusa (Miles & Stockbridge).
Phillips Collection Tour & Networking Dinner at Otello
On August 11, 2016, Greater Maryland members joined members of the D.C. Network for a tour of the Permanent Collection at The Phillips Collection, followed by a dinner at Otello Restaurant. The event was open to both members and non-members, and Kelly Garfinkle Strategic consulting sponsored five tickets to the event for new members. With stunning art work and a fine dining experience in the heart of Washington, D.C., this was a memorable event for both chapters that participated.
Happy Hour & Networking at Kona Grill
On September 22, 2016, network members met for drinks and appetizers at Kona Grill in downtown Baltimore. Everyone enjoyed a chance to network and catch up with each other for one of the last happy hours before the cold weather moves into our Baltimore/Washington region.
