TMA’s Networking at the Yards Event
Forensic Valuation Mock Trial
On October 21, 2016, the Greater Maryland network and MACPA’s Business Valuations Forensic Litigation Services Committee co-sponsored an interactive “mock” deposition and trial to help attendees understand what really goes on when a professional is asked to testify as a damages expert. The event provided useful training for CPAs who find themselves in the courtroom defending their opinions regarding a valuation or other consulting engagement. The goal of the event was to provide participants with the ability to: view and participate in a live mock deposition and trial; gain an understanding of the nuances of trials and how to prepare for them; interact with the participants and other CPAs and attorneys; and gain insight into the role of CPAs in the courtroom.
Greater Maryland Holiday Luncheon
The Greater Maryland chapter is continuing its annual tradition of celebrating the holiday season with a festive and tasty holiday luncheon in early December. Save the date for December 6, 2016 from 12-2 p.m. The luncheon will be held at French Kitchen at The Lord Baltimore Hotel in downtown Baltimore, and the $40 cost will cover both lunch and parking at the venue. This event is for members only.

On October 13, 2016, the Greater Maryland Network screened the movie Suffragette, followed by a discussion of the film. The film provided a fascinating look at the history of women’s suffrage in England and a moving glimpse of the rights and living conditions of working women at the time. The event included a clothing drive for Suited to Succeed, and our membership generously donated many items of clothing and accessories. Suited to Succeed was very thankful for our donations and a great time was had by all!
Several Greater Maryland members enjoyed an impromptu gathering at the TMA-Chesapeake Networking at the Yards event on September 22, 2016. While enjoying the baseball game, food and drink selections in several suites, members caught up on recent activities and networked with members from both IWIRC and TMA.
