Johnson : Educator / Creative Artist / Golden Soror
Mobile . AL – Soror Verna Johnson became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She was a member of St . James Episcopal Church in Fairhope , AL . She was initiated into Alpha Iota Chapter April 11,1959 . She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education ( 1967 ) from Illinois Teachers College . Soror Johnson participated in both Chicago and Delta Theta Omega Chapter . Multitalented to sing , play the piano and organ , Soror Johnson contributed to her church family as an office angel , played hand bells in the choir , coordinated weddings , and was a member of the Altar Guild . She served as a former Board Member of the Fairhope Boys and Girls Club ( 1993 ), member of the Arts and Crafts Committee Board and a volunteer action board member . She leaves to cherish her memory husband Charles T . Johnson , children : Wayne Wright ( Yvette ) Taylor , Kenneth Johnson and Adrienne Taylor ; grandchildren : Brandy Johnson , Charles Johnson , Cameron Taylor and Whitney Wright ; siblings : Lee Smith ( Nikki ) and Yvonne Johnson ( William ) and a host of family and friends .
Jones : Retired Educator / Charter Member / Diamond Soror / Life Member
Springfield , IL – Soror Alma Taylor Jones joined Beta Tau Chapter in 1942 while a student at LeMoyne-Owne College where she served as president . During her undergraduate work at Fisk University , she became a member of Pi Chapter where she served as the Ivy Leaf ® reporter . As she completed her studies at Tuskegee Institute and Alcorn A & M she became active with the local graduate chapter . Soror Jones was a chartering member of Nu Omicron Omega Chapter in Springfield , IL . She relocated to Woodbridge , VA in September 2009 and continued her love and support alongside her daughter Soror Linda and the members of Omicron Chi Omega Chapter . Soror Jones celebrated her 75-year membership on April 7 , 2017 . Soror Jones retired from the Springfield , IL public schools as an educator . She leaves those to cherish her memory , a daughter Dr . Linda F . Jones-Turner , son Dr . Perkins S . Jones and the members of Nu Omicron Omega Chapter . She will be remembered and honored for her sisterly love , support and kind spirit .

Pontiac , MI – Soror JoAnn Jones became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on March 26 , 2020 . Soror Jones was initiated into Sigma Omega Chapter in 1981 . Later she relocated to Michigan where she was a member of Theta Lambda Omega Chapter . She was the First Lady of Welcome Missionary Baptist Church in Pontiac , Michigan for over 30 years and was known for her women ' s ministries , bible study classes , women ' s day leadership , Sunday School classes and Welcome Inspirational Bookstore . Her career in healthcare field of radiology spanned over 35 years . She graduated from Sienna Heights College , was a professor at Baker College and Wayne State Community College . She was also the president of the Michigan radiology technicians for eight years . She was a mother , wife , entertainer , shopper and traveler . She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 40 plus years Pastor Douglas P . Jones , daughters Erica Chappell legacy soror , Lucille Jones ; Lisa Jones ( deceased ), grandchild Justin Chappell and son-in-law John Chappell .
Jones : Marketing Analyst
Atlanta , GA – Golden Soror Muriel Jocquelyne Wilson Jones became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on April 10 , 2020 . Soror Jones attended the University of Denver and was initiated into the Alpha Kappa Chapter in 1964 . Soror Jones was a centennial scholar and graduated with a major in psychology in 1965 . While at the University of Denver , she met Robert Jones , Jr ., later married and moved to Georgia , and later welcomed their only child , Soror Tamara Raquel Jones . Soror Jones worked for the City of Atlanta as a project administrator and Delta Airlines as a marketing analyst until retirement . She worked for several years at the Episcopal Church of the Atonement , attended services at the Episcopal Cathedral of St . Phillip , and served on the commission on ministry for the Diocese of Atlanta . Soror Jones served as the South Atlantic Regional parliamentarian and treasurer . She also served Kappa Omega Chapter as historian , parliamentarian , graduate advisors , counsel , mentor , and faculty for the Kappa Omega Ethel Hedgeman Lyle Leadership Academy .
Jones : Provost / Vice Chancellor / Golden Soror
Durham , NC - Soror Beverly Washington Jones , became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on July 19 , 2020 . She was initiated into the Alpha Chi Chapter in 1968 . Soror Jones was a Durham native and earned both her bachelor ' s and master ' s degrees from North Carolina Central University ( NCCU ); she was a member of the Golden Eagles Class of 1970 . She was the first African American female to receive a Ph . D in American history from UNC at Chapel Hill . She was also a former provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs for NCCU . An accomplished educator , author and historian , she was elected to the Durham City Schools Board of Education and Durham Public Schools Board of Education and served as chairman of Durham ' s committee on racial understanding . She served dutifully on various committees with Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter . She earned several awards for her leadership and community achievements , including the Mid-Atlantic Region ' s Award for Education . She leaves to cherish her memory , her husband Mr . C . Ray Jones ; her children , Michelle , Ingrid ( soror ) and Gary .

Joyner : Golden Soror
Indianapolis , IN – Soror Joyce Sterling Joyner became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She attended Indiana University in Bloomington for two years and later received a BA degree from Marian College and a master ' s degree from Indiana University , School of Public and Environmental Affairs . Soror Joyner was initiated into Tau Chapter in Bloomington , IN in 1955 . Although she was a proud homemaker , she was active in numerous community affairs . She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and a member of the Panel of American Women . She was also a member of the Indianapolis Chapter of Jack and Jill of America . Soror Joyce was a member of St . Monica Church for 50 years .
