Denmom : School Psychologist
San Diego , CA – Soror Phillis Pearl Denmom became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on February 9 , 2020 . She attended the University of California and attained her bachelor ' s degree . She later earned a master ' s in psychology from San Francisco State University and worked as a school psychologist for the La-Mesa / Spring Valley School district . She loved the Lord and was a committed member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church and served for many years as an usher . Soror Denmom was a member of Epsilon Xi Omega Chapter serving on many committees . However , her passion was serving on education and health committees and one her favorite roles was working on and organizing the " Go Red for Women " campaign . She received many accolades for her community work and her volunteer spirit in the sorority . Her daughter established the Pearlen Denmon Educational Scholarship to honor her mother . Soror Denmom is survived by her legacy daughter , Andria Denmon , relatives , sorority sisters , and a host of friends to cherish her memory .
Dickens : Retired Educator / Charter Member / Golden Soror
Roxboro , NC – Golden Soror Arenthia Tatum Dickens became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on October 11 , 2020 . A charter member of Sigma Nu Omega Chapter in Roxboro , NC , Soror Dickens served through the years as historian and on several committees . She joined the sorority in 1949 at Alpha Phi Chapter , North Carolina A & T State University in Greensboro . She married her college sweetheart , Quincey A . Dickens , who preceded her in death She worked and retired after more than 30 years as a high school teacher in the Person County System . She served in the senior choir at First Baptist Church until her health prevented participation . Soror Dickens is survived by two daughters : Gail Dickens Raines ( Verlyn ) and Paula Dickens Glenn ; one sisterin-law Mabel Dickens Morgan ; granddaughter Monica V . Raines , grandsons Paul E . McKibbins III ( Keena ), Marcus D . McKibbins , Quincey A . Glenn , Andrew B . Glenn III ( Samantha ) and Everson D . Raines ; seven greatgrandchildren , and many loving nieces , nephews , other relatives and friends .
Drake : Physical Therapist / Actress / Model
Poughkeepsie , NY – Sandra " Joyce " Martin Drake became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on October 21 , 2020 . A native of Fairfield , Alabama , she attended Tuskegee University where she earned a BS in physical therapy in 1981 . She was initiated into Gamma Kappa Chapter during the fall of 1979 . Upon graduation , she had a 38- year professional career as a lead physical therapist , independent registered physical therapist ; and a manager for Blue Cross / Blue Shield . She began serving God early in life . At age three she would recite the 66-books of the bible and sing for local church congregations . Soror Drake ’ s talent lead to modeling and acting in television and award-winning films . Her television roles include the lead suspect in " The Burning Truck " on Fatal Attraction , and a cameo extra in a " Queen Sugar " episode . Her film roles include " Rabidus ," " The Tree Widow ," and " The Legend of Oscar Pope ". Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Derrick Drake , children Karah and Nathan Bailey , and three sisters Rachel Williams , Dr . Carol J . Johnson and Soror Linda Johnson .
Edmonds : Retired International Educator / Pearl Soror / Life Member
Detroit , MI – Pearl Soror Gloria Patricia Edmonds became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She received her BA in education from Lane College , while there she was initiated in 1947 to Beta Chi Chapter . She obtained her master ' s in education from Eastern Michigan University , Ypsilanti , MI . Her first job was as an International Teacher in France , Germany , and Japan , after returning to the States she taught in the Highland Park School System until she retired in 2019 . Soror Edmonds was a member of St . Timothy ' s United Methodist , her family , many times serving as surrogate mother / grandmother , and travel often collecting unique artifacts . She also loved skiing , bowling , and golf . Soror Edmonds was an active member of Alpha Rho Omega Chapter , a lifetime member of the NAACP , a member of the United Methodist Women and Lane College Alumni of Detroit Chapter . She is survived by her brother , Robert , four nieces , two nephews , great nieces and nephews , great-great nieces and nephews , and a great-great-great niece , family and friends .
Eldridge : Retired Educator
Fort Wayne , IN – Soror Juanita Eldridge became an Ivy Beyond the Wall December 3 , 2020 . She earned her bachelor ' s degree from Tennessee State University where she became a member of Alpha Psi Chapter on November 1 , 1963 . She accepted a teaching position in Fort Wayne , IN in 1965 and earned her master ' s degree in education from St . Francis University . Soror Eldridge was a charter member of Iota Chi Omega Chapter where she served dutifully as president and in various offices while also serving with dedication on several committees including membership , sisterly relations , and fundraising . She was also a charter member of the Cosmopolites . She was a member of Kingdom Door Worship Ministry and was the " Rock of the Church ." She was a sister , wife , mother and grandmother .
Ellis : Principal / Trailblazer / Golden Soror
Durham , NC – Soror Barbara Hall Ellis became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on March 26 , 2020 . She was initiated into the Alpha Chi Chapter in 1958 . Soror Ellis received her bachelor ' s degree in biology / education and master ' s degree in special education / counseling from North Carolina Central University . She received her Ph . D . in special education / teaching and post-doctoral certification from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill . Soror Ellis was the first and only female to serve as a high school principal during the era of separate school systems for Durham County . Also , along with her husband , Clarence H . Ellis and two sons , they were the first black family to purchase a home in Old Farm , Durham , North Carolina in 1968 . With Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter , Soror Ellis served on several committees and was honored the opportunity to serve on the registration committee for the 66th Boule in Charlotte , NC . Those to cherish her memory include her surviving sons , Keith A . Ellis ( Jacqueline ) and Derek D . Ellis ( Monica ); one stepson , Carlos Barnes ; and three granddaughters .
