Clawson : Retired Educator / Minister / Golden Soror
Concord , NC — Soror Doris Clawson became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . Soror Clawson was a proud graduate of Winston-Salem State University in Winston Salem , NC , where she was initiated into the Gamma Lambda Chapter in 1965 . During her tenure with Lambda Upsilon Omega , Concord , NC , she served as pecunious grammateus and chaired the chapter ' s Education Advancement Foundation committee . She was district president of Church of God founded by Jesus Christ , Pastor of Lilly ' s Chapel Church of God ( NC ) and she was the first Black woman principal in Cabarrus County , NC . She served the Cabarrus County School system for 34 years . In 2007 , she received the Women of Distinction Award . Soror Clawson was preceded in death by her parents , William Edward Mintz and the late Macie McCluney Mintz and her two brothers . She married the late Rev . Dr . Thomas Clawson , Sr . She is survived by her son , Tommy Clawson , Jr . ( Tamarra Robinson ); two grandchildren , five sisters , one brother , many godchildren , nieces , nephews , cousins , friends .
Coleman : Sales Consultant / Silver Soror
Westchester County , NY — Soror Cathy Clash Coleman became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . Soror Coleman was initiated in 1981 at Howard University . She graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering in 1984 . Following her graduation , she worked for Dow Chemical Corporation and earned a master ' s degree with honors from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute in 1985 . Soror Coleman was then employed as a scientist at NASA ' s Goddard Space Lab before earning a second master ' s degree in business from the University of Michigan in 1992 . She joined Oracle Corporation as a sales consultant and enjoyed over 28 years of service . Soror Coleman was a very active member of Zeta Nu Omega Chapter where she previously served in a variety of positions and committees . She is survived by her husband of over 36 years , Mr . James R . Coleman , and a host of loving family , friends , and sorors .
Crawford : Retired Educator / Charter Member / Golden Soror / Life Member
Las Vegas , NV – Soror Margaret Crawford became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on February 10 , 2020 . She was initiated at Wiley College , Phi Chapter , where she received a BA degree in elementary education and a MS degree from Wayne State University . Soror Crawford was a 64-year member of the sorority and a charter member of Theta Theta Omega Chapter . She was an active member of several organizations including but not limited to Church Women United , Toast Masters , founding member of Top Ladies of Distinction , Crown Jewel Chapter and an organizing member of Black Community Organization Network . She received numerous awards and recognition for her community , church and organizational involvement . Soror Crawford leaves to cherish her memory a loving brother Cranford Crawford and many friends .
Cunningham : Retired Educator / Silver Star
Lansing , MI – Soror Kate Francis Parker Cunningham became an Ivy Beyond the Wall March 2020 . She was initiated in Delta Tau Omega Chapter in 1981 ; and faithfully served as grammateus , membership chairman , and on the bylaws and connection committees . She met and married her husband , James Cunningham , IV . To this union two sons were born — James V and Jason Cunningham . The family moved to Lansing , MI after James IV returned from serving in the United States Army . Soror Cunningham earned both her bachelor and master ' s degrees from Michigan State University . She was a compassionate educator who spent her entire 30 plus years as a teacher dedicated to educating Lansing-area high school students . She was a devoted member of Tabernacle of David Church under the leadership of Pastor Larry Trice , Jr . Soror Cunningham leaves to cherish her memory her children , James ( Elnora ) Cunningham V and Jason Cunningham .
Cox : Educator
Dallas , TX – Soror Alice Faye Owens Cox was born on February 28 , 1942 , in Dallas , TX gaining the nickname Cookie because of the freckles on her face . She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Bishop College and a Master ’ s of Education degree from East Texas State University . She became the first African American counselor at Robert T . Hill Middle school in Dallas . TX . Soror Cox was initiated in Delta Kappa Chapter , 57 years ago after asking her mother for the $ 50 initiation fee and maintained uninterrupted service as a part of Alpha Xi Omega Chapter . She believed in service in the community . She was an active participant in the Dallas Democratic political realm , and later being appointed as a panel chairwoman . She exhibited a strong commitment in programs that fulfilled the vision of the organization . She will be remembered for her love for God , and her family .
Davis-Hoggard : Retired Director of Social Services
Las Vegas , NV — Soror Verlia Davis-Hoggard of Theta Theta Omega Chapter became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on February 20 , 2020 . She was initiated into Theta Theta Omega Chapter in 2001 . Soror Davis-Hoggard received a BS degree in sociology from the University of Arkansas . She was a member of The Links , Top Ladies of Distinction , National Association of Social Workers , American Society for Public Administrators , a charter member and trustee of the Las Vegas / Clark County Library district , as well a member of the Nevada Silver Haired Legislative Forum . Soror Davis-Hoggard will be missed by sorors and many friends .
Cox : Social Worker / Silver Soror
Baltimore , MD – Soror Violet Anne Bailey Cox became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on February 1 , 2020 . Soror Cox was initiated in the Epsilon Omega Chapter in 1984 . She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Morgan State University . She went on to receive her Master of Arts in Social Work from Coppin State University . Soror Cox is survived by her husband , Horace Raymond Cox .
