Bryant : Educator / Caregiver
Hinesville , GA – Soror Claudia Faye Hinton Bryant became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on May 27 , 2020 . She received her bachelor ' s degree in education from St . Augustine University in Raleigh , NC . She continued her education at Cambridge College in Boston , MA earning a Master of Education degree . Soror Bryant was a member of Nu Rho Omega Chapter and served as chairman of the relay for life and health committee , hodegos , philacter , as well as on the Founders ' Day , Fashionetta ® , protocol and membership committees . She was an active member of Nu Rho Omega at the time of her death and a caregiver to her mother . Soror Bryant leaves her husband , Ted L . Bryant ; mother , Lucy B . Hinton ; a son , Ted M . Bryant and a daughter , Lucinda P . Bryant-Sturgis to cherish her memory as well as a host of other family , friends and sorors .
Buckner : Teacher
Pasadena , CA – Soror Sharon Dorice Buckner became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on August 13 , 2020 . Soror Buckner attended Whittier College where she earned her bachelor ' s degree and joined the sorority . She earned a master ’ s degree in education from Azusa Pacific University . She taught children for over 40 years with a focus on children with special needs , and behavioral challenges . Soror Sharon worked tirelessly to serve the City of Pasadena where she also served as basileus of Eta Lambda Omega Chapter in 2001 2002 . Under her administration the chapter celebrated arts in all forms as she was passionate about crafting . The family , friends and sorors of Soror Buckner remember her as a champion of service .
Burnett : Principal / Silver Star
Baltimore , MD – Soror Greta Lavinia Gordy Burnett became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on April 27 , 2020 . She received degrees from Bowie State University , the University of Maryland at College Park and earned an Ed . D from George Washington University . She was a caring educator and leader serving as principal at a number of elementary schools in Prince George ' s County for many years including Highland Park Elementary . As a tireless and dedicated servant leader in her community , she was initiated into Epsilon Omega Chapter May 20 , 1984 and was a Silver Star . She was also a member of the Northeasterners , the Philomathians , and the Links , Inc . She was a member of the Milford Mill United Methodist Church in Pikesville , MD . Soror Burnett is survived by her husband of 37 years , Calvin , Westminster , MD ; four children ; Tywana Dorsey ( Steven ), Vera Powell ( Kevin ), Susan Burnett , David Burnett ; a large family , friends , mentees , sorors and neighbors .
Burroughs : Silver Soror / Former Chapter Financial Secretary / Board Member
Kansas City , MO — Soror Mary Ruth Florence Burroughs became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She graduated from Park University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources . She worked at Hallmark Cards and Marion Laboratories for 15 years each and had recently retired from Homeland Security / Citizenship and Immigration Services . Soror Burroughs was initiated in Beta Omega Chapter in 1989 . She served on various committees and held several offices . The last office she held prior to her death was chapter financial secretary . She was a member at Greater Pentecostal Temple for over 60 years . Soror Burroughs was a former board member of Rose Brooks Shelter , the Institute of Supply Management , and th National Association for Marketing Developers . She was an active member of the American Business Women ' s Association and the Boys and Girls Club . Soror Burroughs leaves to cherish her memory , her husband of 49 years Willie Burroughs ; children , Damon , Eric , and Soror Monica ; twin sister , Soror Margaret Evans , sisters , Dorothy Hawkins and Christine Cunningham . She is also survived by eight grandchildren ; one great-grandchild ; a host of nieces , nephews , and other family and friends .
Caldwell : Retired Educator / Silver Soror
Kansas City , MO – Soror Lolita Richardson Caldwell became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on September 16 , 2020 . She attended college at Southern University earning a master ' s degree in education . She taught in the Kansas City , MO School District , where she later retired from Westport Middle School in 1994 , as a history teacher . In 1993 , Soror Caldwell was initiated in Beta Omega Chapter . She was active in many community organizations . She was a member of Calvary Chapel Church where she attended and served as a mother of the church until her health declined . She was involved in Women ' s Foundation of Kansas City , MO , AFT Teachers Union , and Jack and Jill of America . She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter , Benita Caldwell , one brother , Charlie Richardson ; two grandchildren and a host of nephews , nieces , and other relatives and friends .
Canty : Retired Educator / Life Member / Community Volunteer
Lansing , MI – Soror Thomasina H . Canty became an Ivy Beyond the Wall November 2020 . Soror Canty was initiated in Delta Tau Omega Chapter in 1975 and was a life member . She earned her BS in education from Morris Brown College , and M . Ed . from Michigan State University . She was an elementary educator for over 40 years and retired from the Lansing School District in 1993 . After retirement , she was a faithful volunteer at Sparrow Hospital and the MSU Wharton Center . Soror Canty served the chapter as hodegos , historian , as well as chairing the nominating , history and hospitality committees . In 2018 , she placed 2nd in the Madelyn M . Hairston Giddens Caring and Sharing Award at the 87th Great Lakes Regional Conference . Soror Canty was a member of St . Paul Episcopal Church where she served on the altar guild and taught Sunday School .
