Omega Delta Omega Hosts a Virtual Series for Breast Cancer Awareness
Ontario , CA – Omega Delta Omega Chapter in collaboration with the S . U . P . R . E . M . E . Foundation hosted a full day of free virtual events with a " Did You Know " series . Sessions included meditation by Soror Elaine Walker ; yoga with Staci Mitchell-hieroglyphics yoga ; " Top Trends in Breast Cancer ," Soror Monique Gary-breast cancer surgeon ; " What to Know about Radiology ," Soror Alison LaVigne-radiation oncologist ; " Plant-based eating pre- and post-breast cancer ," Julie Ward-nutritionist and coach ; Survivor ' s Tea & Talk , Arnedra Jordan-Circle of Promise , Susan G . Komen Foundation ; preparing for the future , Erin Mackey-net fringe benefits ; and a closed with " A Chat with the Gurls ," Olivia Drake and 24-year old cancer previvor , Maysa Clay . This event had 160 registrants averaging 45 participants for each of the eight sessions . Soror Celeste Day-Drake served as chairman . The virtual celebration of life honoring chapter survivors began with the Far Western Regional Director , Soror Shelby D . Boagni who gave words of support and encouraged participants to follow-through with their mammograms . Chapter Chaplain , Soror Elaine Walker rendered a meditation that segued to the introduction of the chapter survivors . Virtual entertainment included musical performances by TJ Wilkins accompanied by musician Carvell Harrell and an original spoken word performed by Keonte McDonald entitled — " SurvivHer ". Funds raised will be divided between the Bright Pink organization and the Omega Delta Omega ' s Chapter S . U . P . R . E . M . E . scholarship fund . Soror Tamela Cash-Curry served as chairman for this event . Soror Jullenia Dabney-Dortch serves as basileus .
Eta Lambda Omega Hosts The Arts ! Virtual Summer Camp

Pasadena , CA – Under the leadership of Basileus , Ashley Vickers , Eta Lambda Omega Chapter hosted a virtual The Arts ! Summer Camp with middle school students from the Rosebud Academy . Guided by Committee Chairman , Soror Carolyn Ford , students learned about the Harlem Renaissance and the Black Arts Movement . Soror Ford began the week with an overview of the Harlem Renaissance and the program , she shared , " The workshop gave students an opportunity to explore , engage , and interact with experts in The Arts !" The experts included Megan Easterling who guided the students through creating visual arts pieces in the style of artist Aaron Douglass that were inspired by Langston Hughes , " A Dream Deferred ." The students also learned about the history of jazz music and a song from vocalist , lyricist , composer , and Professor Lenora Helm Hammonds . Shanae Sharon gave students an overview of the Black Arts Movement and led students through writing
and performing response poems and prose inspired by artwork from both movements . The camp concluded with an arts career panel with Erika McCarden , an Emmy award winning writer , producer and marketer , and visual artists , Chris Jordan .
Epsilon Eta Omega Celebrates 50th Anniversary Celebration
Pomona , CA – This virtual Golden event commenced with a slideshow of a continuous loop highlighting pictures and events over the 50 years .
The event was facilitated by Sorors Diana Rigueur and Melissa Givens . A history dialogue was given by the two members , Sorors Carlese Waddy and Endy Farrow . The keynote speaker was Dr . Judy White , Superintendent of Riverside County Schools . She stated , " It is so important for us to always be able to look in the mirror at the end of the day and be able to say , I did my best ." Categories of honorees included ; community service , Linda Wright-Lee and Cynthia Brown ; educators , Dr . Soraya M . Coley ( President of Cal Poly Pomona ), and Richard Martinez ( Superintendent - PUSD ); entrepreneurs - Tammy Martin-Ryles and Rene & Reginald Webb ( The Webb Family Enterprises / McDonalds ); and publisher ' s choice - Renee Barbee & Jeff Schenkel ( La Nueva Voz ). After the presentation of the charter members and past presidents , " On the Spot " scholarships were presented to four high school students .
Eta Nu Omega Impacts the Community
Riverside , CA – Eta Nu Omega Chapter and the Inland Valley Ivy Foundation , charitable foundation of the chapter , sponsored the 3rd Annual Operation Christmas Blessing . Operation Christmas Blessing is an opportunity for us to assist the homeless throughout Riverside and San Bernardino Counties . Usually the chapter donates toiletries , sleeping bags , and tents , however during the pandemic service to others were modified . Instead of driving around the city in search of the homeless population , the chapter assisted seven shelters throughout Riverside : The Path of Life - Riverside , Sun City Shelter - Sun City , The Option House - San Bernardino , Perris
