Sigma Lambda Omega Holds Breast Cancer Seminar
Van Nuys , CA – Sigma Lambda Omega Chapter ’ s Target 2 committee had a Breast Cancer Awareness seminar . Soror Renee Poole provided information to the community . She was joined by Moses J . Fallas , MD chief , Division of Surgery , Cedar Sinai Medical Center ; Evelyn Nicole Mitchell , MD obstetrics and gynecology Keck Medicine of USC ; and Lorraine Jackson , Founder of Pearls of Hope and The Lorraine Jackson Foundation . The Sigma Lambda Omega " Rock the Vote " PR committee posted pictures on social media channels of chapter members holding their ballots to either mail in or vote in-person . The Valley Divine 9 presented a Mental Health Check webinar and member , Soror Alicia Robinson participated on the panel . Members of the Valley Divine 9 discussed coping with COVID , election results , and racism . This was timely since a second wave of COVID was sweeping through LA County . In other news , the San Fernando Valley NPHC chapter was formed and our chapter Soror Taj Jackson was sworn in as secretary . A final highlight was collecting shoes for Target 5 . The chapter practiced socially distancing and collected over 80 pairs of shoes .
Psi Upsilon Omega Hosts a Night of Stars
Henderson , NV – The Target IV Arts committee in collaboration with the sisterly relations committee of Psi Upsilon Omega Chapter teamed up to host our first virtual Movie Night of Stars . Ivy laced snack packs filled with all the necessary movie essentials such as popcorn , candy and a drink were assembled and delivered to the doorsteps of chapter members by a Psi Upsilon Omega contactless delivery team a day prior to the movie premiere . Chapter members were able to indulge in their snacks and engage in sisterly chat via Zoom as they embarked on the emotional journey of the featured movie For Colored Girls , by the infamous Tyler Perry . In addition , members of this collaborative team took the opportunity to provide chapter members with a short arts education presentation on the works and accomplishments of honorary AKA , the legendary Ntozake Shange . This included a tribute to her Obie Awardwinning play , For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf ; the inspiration behind the virtual movie selection . Nearly 30 chapter members were in attendance to immerse themselves in sisterly bonding and to celebrate the achievements of one of our own .

Psi Tau Omega Combats Food Insecurity
Johannesburg , South Africa – International Regional Director Soror Joy Elaine Daley initiated the International Global Pen Pal Program to encourage more connectivity and collaboration among chapters in the International Region and continental USA . Forty-one U . S . chapters across the sorority partnered with chapters in the International Region . Psi Tau Omega Chapter quickly mobilized participating U . S . chapters to assist in combating food insecurity in households headed by children in South Africa by participating in their vegetable nutrition program . In order to establish an impactful partnership with each chapter , Psi Tau Omega launched “ Pink Table Talks ," an innovative program where information was exchanged about the sponsoring chapter , South African culture , myths and facts , women issues in addition to a virtual pen pal program with our food-insecure students in the afterschool program called The AKA EduFun Food Pantry . The support of US-based sorors through the “ Pink Table Talks ” program has enabled Psi Tau Omega to expand its community garden to a total of 300 square meters . All foods harvested will support 21 child-headed households participating in the AKA EduFun Food Pantry . Through this collaboration , Psi Tau Omega also has formed a partnership with Chef Coco , owner of Epicure Restaurant in Johannesburg , to develop easy and nutritious recipes for the children in the AKA EduFun Food Pantry . As a result of this Pen Pal Program and “ Pink Table Talk ,” Psi Tau Omega continues to place combating youth food insecurity in South Africa at the center of the chapter ’ s core programming .
