Xi Theta Omega Annual YES Summit Goes Virtual
Arlington , TX – Xi Theta Omega Chapter held its annual Youth Education Success ( YES ) Summit . This annual event , usually held on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington ( UTA ), was moved to a virtual platform due to the pandemic . The summit consisted of presenters from Lockheed Martin , Microsoft , Scyionce , Arlington Independent School District as well as a panel on college readiness conducted by the UTA TRIO department . Motivational speaker Soror Jamilia Thomas , senior vice president of Big Brothers Big Sisters-Lone Star , provided words of encouragement to the students . Chapter members hosted 210 students from grades 6-12 ; sixteen students who participate in the signature program # CAP SM were among the students in attendance . During the virtual summit , various scholarships were awarded . Two high school seniors received a $ 1,000 scholarship contingent upon them attending an HBCU . Three other attendees each won a $ 1,000 STEM scholarship . Some deserving students won door prizes valued at over $ 1,500 total , and those prizes consisted of Amazon gift cards and three laptop computers . The YES Summit was also sponsored by charitable donations from Microsoft , NBC 5 , Lockheed Martin , TIAA , and the Arlington Foundation for Excellence in Education .
Beta Psi Omega Serves Corporate Partners and Black Owned Businesses
Austin , TX – Beta Psi Omega Chapter takes " service with a smile " to new levels . The chapter pressed on by supporting every economically impactful endeavor possible from international corporate partners to local greater Austin area Black owned businesses . The chapter collected over 200 pairs of shoes in partnership with Soles4Souls pursuant to international service program Target 3 : Building Your Economic Legacy . Next , Beta Psi

Omega transitioned from a shoe collection service project to cultivating economic influence closer to home . " As we approach [ ed ] the holiday season , we encourage [ d ] all our sorors to use [ their ] black dollars with black business ," says Target 3 Committee Chairman , Soror Shaila Murray . Two of the chapter ' s substantial projects furthering the Target 3 mission included the Ivy Shopping Network virtual shopping event and greater Austin Black Owned Business support drive . The Ivy Shopping Network event hosted a virtual shopping party with giveaways and exclusive preview sales featuring local minority-owned vendors . Sorors tracked and reported all dollars spent with black medical and finance professionals , beauty salons , restaurants , and gift shops . Between both projects , chapter members and community residents alike collectively spent over $ 75,000 on local products and services .
Alpha Xi Omega Sponsors UN Global Leadership Award
Dallas , TX – Alpha Xi Omega Chapter was a lead sponsor for the 5th Annual United Nations Global Leadership Awards hosted by the United Nations Association-USA Dallas Chapter . The Global Leadership Awards recognize extraordinary local leaders who have advanced the UN Sustainable Development Goals . This year ' s event was celebrated on the 75th anniversary of the chartering of the UN . Fourteen North Texas leaders were recognized for their work to end poverty and hunger , gender and economic equality , immigration reform , good health and well-being , quality education , humanitarianism , democracy , and much more . " The UN continues to make a positive change in the world , and Alpha Xi Omega Chapter , under its Global Impact Target , is proud to collaborate with the UNA in working towards a positive change that will benefit others for years to come ." Omicron Mu Omega Hosts Virtual Image Award Celebration
Dallas , TX - The Legacy of Service Foundation hosted its first virtual Image Award Celebration in conjunction with Omicron Mu Omega Chapter . Through the Image Award Celebration , the foundation recognizes and honors individuals who have made an impact in their communities and the world by serving as role models , exhibiting leadership , and displaying humanitarianism . This year ' s honoree is Mr . Taylor Toynes , the founder of For Oak Cliff , a non-profit organization based in Dallas . For Oak Cliff provides food , education services , and other needed assistance to underserved families in the South Dallas area . Toynes , a former educator , felt the need to give back to his community beyond the classroom after realizing students lacked adequate school supplies . During the program to honor Mr . Toynes , the foundation presented a $ 2000 donation in support of For Oak Cliff . Past recipients of the Image Award include international celebrities as well as local leaders .
