Vaulx-Wheeler , co-chairman , was one of the first community members in Jackson , Tennessee to be diagnosed with COVID-19 . The health panelists included Mechelle Taylor Moragne , M . D ., co-chairman , Soror Allyson Anyanwu , M . D ., Marshall D . Banks , M . D ., and Soror Natalie Boyd , public health educator . The discussion was moderated by WBBJ Anchor-Soror Brittany Kyles . Guest shared symptoms and complications they endured as a result of the virus . Soror Carolyn Wheeler shared how her battle with the virus led to her being on a ventilator in the hospital for several days without family by her side . Our youngest guest , Isiah Perry , shared how he infected his entire family after not being initially compliant with wearing a mask . All guest and members stated the virus has taken a toll on them mentally .

Phi Alpha Omega Celebrates National Caregivers ' Day
Bentonville , AR – Phi Alpha Omega Chapter presented healthy snacks to the Springdale Health and Rehabilitation Center staff members who serve as caregivers . The items included pretzels , skinny popcorn , granola bars , Chex mix , trail mix , peanut butter crackers , and water . The snacks were provided for over 100 staff members . Phi Alpha Omega has two sorors who serve as caregivers and provided the sorors with gift cards that focused on self-care . Target II also provided virtual facts to the chapter for other health initiatives . One of those initiatives was National Diabetes Awareness Month . Sorors Dominique Mull , and Dequeshia Prude- Wheeler , co-chairmen for Target II , submitted virtual information to focus on physical and mental health through the pandemic .
Gamma Eta Omega Hosts Virtual Arts Showcase
Baton Rouge , LA – Gamma Eta Omega Chapter hosted a Virtual Arts Showcase and brought its participants back in time to the Harlem Renaissance and Black Arts Movement . Participants were able to hear the sounds of these movements while viewing the art of local students and some of the twentieth century ' s great artists . Fourteen middle and high school students submitted art that was in the spirit of both the Harlem Renaissance and Black Arts Movement . During the virtual arts showcase , participants were able to learn some of the history behind these eras as well as a local spotlight , the Temple Theatre . The Temple Theatre hosted several great artists in the twentieth century including Cab Calloway , Duke Ellington , Ella Fitzgerald , and Louis Armstrong . The event was open to the public , and over 55 families tuned in to this event . Local student artists who displayed artwork in the Virtual Showcase : Aja Neshane Johnson , Amanda Nwogu , Jade Anjoli Moore , Jade Novell Abney , Jalaysia Whitfield , Jamiya McFadden , Ja ' Mynee McKnight , Jayla Hickman , Jordyn Rayford , Leah Warr , Morgan Hayes , Nachell Weaver , Shyanna Archield , and Treanya Blue .

during the COVID-19 pandemic . During these difficult and uncertain times , Kappa Lambda Omega understands the importance of supporting small businesses more than ever . Every Friday , sorors and community members were encouraged to order takeout or have meals delivered from black-owned businesses in support of Target 3 : Building Your Economic Legacy ( Entrepreneurship and the Black Dollar 365 ). In an effort to decrease economic disparities in the community and demonstrate black buying power ; the chapter reached over 2,500 people who viewed the posts on Facebook and Instagram .
