for a virtual happy hour fundraiser , dedicated to the artistic expression of black culture . Vanguard Theatre Company is dedicated to creating and promoting diversity within the arts . The fundraiser is entitled " The Harlem Renaissance vs . The Black Arts Movement Social Klub Happy Hour ." Chapter members and guests enjoyed a night of music and fellowship , as they relived the iconic time periods of the 1920S and 1970s . Highlights of the program included a best dressed contest from each time period , trivia , entertainment and games . Rho Gamma Omega ' s financial contribution was used to support the initiatives of the school and to sponsor a student into the arts program . The Arts ! committee chairs , Kathy Carter and Da ' Cheray Thomas Ruth , hosted the program . Recia Howard was the chapter basileus .

Bronx , NY – Members of Eta Omega Omega Chapter continued to spread holiday cheer by hosting its annual In-Kind Holiday Toy Drive virtually . Collaborating with Wheeler , Wilson & Johnson Community Projects , Incorporated , and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity , Incorporated , Rho Psi Lambda Chapter , 395 toys were donated to P . S . 246 ' s afterschool program . This year we used an online registry and a drive through drop-off which resulted in one hundred kindergarten students received toys . The event was chaired by Soror Denise Borden- Miller and co-chaired by Soror Charmetta Acevedo .
Psi Lambda Omega Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness
Brooklyn , NY – Psi Lambda Omega Chapter partnered with three organizations : " 2for2Boobs ," " TOUCH " The Black Breast Cancer Alliance and " Sisters by Choice " via a real-time webinar , to help promote awareness and action , to eradicate breast cancer , in both women and men , especially in communities of color . The webinar was facilitated by Basileus Leslie Hayes , 1st Anti Basileus , Dr . Thomasena Ellison-Clarke and Soror Dr . Monique Gary , shared information with over 100 participants . In our continued effort to have an ongoing awareness about breast cancer , Psi Lambda Omega had the distinction of being the only Greek letter organization to team up with the 60 + organizations , to help form an umbrella organization entitled : " Breast Cancer United ," which kicked off with Mathew Knowles , a breast cancer survivor , as the grand marshal . Now more than ever the sorority ’ s advocacy is stronger when united with our community partners .

students grades K-12 . The students were required to use a figure from the Black Arts Movement as inspiration for their performance . Hosted by radio host and actress Tammi Mac , Grammy Award-nominated artist Ruben Studdard and comedian Roy Wood , Jr . as judges , the show featured 3 finalists who competed for a $ 1,000 grand prize . Sorors opened the Talent Show with a recitation of Dark Phrases , a poem from For Colored Girls ( Who Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Was Enuf ) written by poet Ntozake Shange . The first finalist , 12th grader Jerrell Nesbitt , performed a piece on the saxophone that was inspired by the painting from Jeff Donaldson entitled Wives of Sango . The second finalist , 9th grader Kristin Payne , performed a song inspired by professor , activist , author , and creator of Kwanzaa , Dr . Maulana Karenga . The third finalist , 11th grader Sukanya Scott , performed an opera piece inspired by a quote from poet Gwendolyn Brooks . The $ 1,000 grand prize winner was opera singer Sukanya Scott , the $ 500 second place winner was saxophonist Jerrell Nesbitt , and the 3rd place winner was vocalist Kristin Payne . This was the second talent show of the year hosted by the Target 4 subcommittee co-chaired by Soror Regaye Fulcher and Soror Lisa White-Tingling .
Xi Chi Omega Hosts Inaugural Virtual Black Business Expo
Peekskill , NY – Xi Chi Omega Chapter hosted their inaugural Black Business Holiday Expo in December via Facebook Live . Focused on showcasing entrepreneurs and other small black-owned businesses , the virtual event gave these businesses the opportunity to sell unique products and services and increase their customer reach . By utilizing social media and video conference tools , this event provided people across the country the opportunity to shop with these minority businesses . The programs committee gave the entrepreneurs time to network and support each other prior to the event . Throughout the event , an engaged audience asked questions , made purchases , and played games . The chapter created trivia questions using information provided by each business and periodically rewarded the audience members who could answer first , via chat . In addition to walking away with medicinal teas , art , photography , candles , apparel , and care services , the audience received contact information for all presenters . Xi Chi Omega posted the expo on their social media pages , as well as the chapter ' s website and YouTube channel in an effort to create an ongoing awareness . The programs and fundraising committees partnered to raise funds to support scholarships and future programs .
