Terrell : Educator / Life Member
Grambling . LA – Soror Barbara Rucker Terrell became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She received a Bachelor of Science degree in English from Arkansas AM & N ( now UAPB ). While at Arkansas AM & N , she was initiated into the Alpha Rho Chapter in 1959 and continued her lifetime membership in the Epsilon Psi Omega Chapter until her death . She was an English educator at Reed High School for three years and Grambling High School for 42 years . She later earned a master ’ s degree in English at Louisiana Tech University . Soror Terrell was a member of New Rocky Valley Baptist Church , where she was a member of the gospel choir and the Deacon ' s Board . She leaves to cherish her memory , her husband of 56 years , Dr . Jethro Terrell ; twin daughters Stacey Lynne Terrell and Tracey Gwyn Terrell .
Terry : Retired Educator / Administrator / Golden Soror
Pontiac , MI – Golden Soror Vivian Reed Terry became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on December 9 , 2020 . She graduated from Johnson C . Smith earning a bachelor ’ s degree , received a Master of Arts in teaching-reading from Oakland University and furthered her studies earning an education specialist in school administration . She retired as a principal and educator of the Pontiac School District after 38 years of service . Soror Terry was a member of the sorority for 54 years . She joined Theta Lambda Omega Chapter , where she served on numerous committees including cotillion , fashion show , golf outing , Target 1 — HBCU For Life and Target 2 - Women ' s Healthcare and Wellness . She was hodegos on the executive board , extending courtesies , encouraging thoughts , and well wishes to sorors of the chapter . She loved people and they loved her . She will always be remembered as " Vivacious Viv " because of her personality , laugh , and smile .
Thompson : Volunteer / Breast Cancer Survivor
Asheville , NC – Soror Marion Jean Thompson became an Ivy Beyond the Wall November 3 , 2020 . Soror Thompson was initiated into Gamma Gamma Omega Chapter in 2003 where she became an active member . During her tenure she served as basileus , anti-basileus , grammateus , and Ivy Leaf ® reporter . She was appointed to serve as the chapter ' s chaplain , she was a target chairman , and was a member of the following committees : Founders ' Day , fundraising , music , and she was on the graduate advisor ' s council . Additionally , she served as the Golden Café chairman during the 65th Mid-Atlantic regional conference . Soror Thompson demonstrated her commitment to service to others through her work at Charles George Veterans Affairs Medical Center and her membership and devotion to Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church . She was a member of the Asheville Chapter of The Links , American Red Cross , Susan G . Komen , and Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry . Soror Thompson was a breast cancer survivor and in 2015 she was featured in a Subway commercial that highlighted breast cancer survivors .
Watkis : Retired Educator / Charter Member / Golden Soror
Long Island , NY – Golden Soror Terrecita Pinder Watkis of Theta Iota Omega Chapter became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on April 20 , 2020 . A graduate of Lincoln University ( Missouri ) with a bachelor ’ s degree in music education , Soror Watkis also received her master ' s degree from Long Island University and her Ed . D in education administration from the University of Massachusetts . Her 30 year professional career was committed to shaping young minds as a Nassau County School teacher & reading specialist , while serving at the state and federal levels as a district liaison for parent / child and Even Start programs . Soror Watkis was a proud 61-year member of the sorority and a charter member of Theta Iota Omega Chapter . In recognition of her stellar efforts , her home street was renamed from " St . Regis Place " to " AKA Theta Iota Omega Way " along with a weekend-long ceremony with special honors . She was the inaugural graduate advisor of Kappa Epsilon Chapter seated at Adelphi University . Cherishing her memory are her family , friends , and her Theta Iota Omega sorors .
White : Retired Social Worker / Golden Soror
Newark , NJ – Golden Soror Constance Bivins White , LCSW , became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on October 22 , 2020 . In the fall of 1947 , Soror White was initiated into Alpha Delta Chapter at Morgan State College ( Morgan State University ). After graduating from Morgan State in 1949 , she matriculated to Howard University and earned a master ’ s degree in social work . She married Donald White and they moved to Newark , NJ where Soror White joined Beta Alpha Omega Chapter . She worked for the Newark Board of Education and established a program that helped pregnant teens to finish high school . After retiring , she became a volunteer and board member at a nearby hospital . Her travels around the world took her to six of the seven continents . She had a role in " The Preacher ' s Wife " film . Soror White attended her last North Atlantic Regional Conference and Boule with her legacy daughter and granddaughter .
Wicks : Retired Professor / Golden Soror
Lanham , MD – Soror Jean Gillard Wicks became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on February 23 , 2020 . Soror Wicks was initiated into Alpha Phi Chapter at North Carolina A & T State University in 1957 . She received her Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Education degree from Bowie State University . She married Charles Wicks of Crisfield , MD in 1968 . She began her professional career in Kinston , NC and was employed at Bowie State and appointed as the director of admissions . She began teaching in Bowie State ' s Department of Business Administration , Public Administration , and Economics in 1979 until retiring in 2009 . Soror Wicks was an active golden life member of Iota Gamma Omega Chapter which she joined in 1981 . She leaves to cherish her memory , her daughter , Soror Lynette Wicks Vaughn ( Robert ), and her grandson , Evan , of California ; two sisters , Soror Ida Gillard Brandon , and Soror Joyce McDaniel ( Michael ); one aunt ; six nieces ; and a host of friends and sorors .
