Tau Omicron Omega Provides Service
Dublin , GA – Tau Omicron Omega Chapter provided service in their community to honor the legacy of Dr . Martin Luther King , Jr . on MILK Day of Service . This day of service was different than any other because the world was still in the pandemic . Tau Omicron Omega Chapter had to think outside of the box to provide service while following safety guidelines to ensure that chapter members and the community remained safe . The chapter thanked the Laurens County Sherriff ’ s Department for their service in the community during the pandemic by donating doughnuts for breakfast . A donation of over 100 rolls of paper towels were made to Women in Needs of God ' s Shelter , Inc . ( WINGS ) to help residents with the paper towel shortage . Tau Omicron Omega Chapter donated snacks to the essential workers at Fairview Park Hospital to show appreciation for their hard work . Coloring books , pencils , crayons , and snacks were provided to Shamrock Nursing Home to entertain residents . The sorority also donated school supplies , sanitizer , Clorox wipes , cleaning supplies , uniform shirts , and masks to the students of their sister school Susie Dasher Elementary .

Evans , GA – In conjunction with Augusta Chapter of The Links Incorporated ® , Alpha Alpha Epsilon Omega held a Sunday Brunch
Alpha Alpha Epsilon Omega members Soror Donna Adams-Pickett , PhD , MD and co-moderator Soror Kerisa Coleman participated in Sunday Brunch " Conversations About Covid ."
" Conversations About Covid " via Zoom and Facebook LIVE , focused on conversations and panel discussions about COVID-19 , the vaccines , safety measures , and CDC guidelines . Alpha Alpha Epsilon Omega member Soror Kerisa Coleman co-moderated the panel , which included chapter member Soror Donna Adams-Pickett , PhD , MD of Augusta Women ' s Health and Wellness Center , Dr . Angela O . Wright , MD of Health Done Wright Family Medicine , and Dr . Alicia Elam , PharmD of Augusta University School of Allied Health . Panelist Soror Adams-Pickett used visual aids to demonstrate how the virus and the vaccine works and addressed questions regarding the types of vaccines and common side effects from each of the three vaccines . Dispelling concerns and questions of skepticism , the panelists emphasized the importance of getting any of the available vaccines , as well as being vigilant regarding the potential symptoms from the vaccine . They advised consulting with your primary physician , following CDC guidelines after vaccination , and the need to protect both themselves and others . The LIVE recorded event had over 40 shares and has been viewed over 2,100 times .
Epsilon Omega Omega Celebrates Women ' s History Month
Macon , GA – In honor of Women ' s History Month , Epsilon Omega Omega celebrated the contributions of women throughout history and celebrated women who are pioneering our future . The connections committee ran a daily social media takeover spotlighting women who have distinguished themselves in medicine and the arts , in business and athletics , on the big screen and in the courtroom . Some of the notable women featured included Vice President Kamala Harris , actress Phylicia Rashad , businesswoman , Rosalind Brewer , and former First Lady Michelle Obama . Empowering and inspirational women on the state and local level were also featured including community activist , Stacy Abrams , Judge Verda Colvin and our basileus , Judge Brenda Youmas . Women ' s History month was a time to showcase the women of Epsilon Omega Omega , who are making a difference in their communities . The HBCU for Life Newsletter saluted these women who are entrepreneurs , educators , politicians , doctors and more . A Women ' s History Month Panel hosted by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the African American Alumni Network of Mercer University presented " Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Woman ". The forum brought visibility and awareness to just how race plays into the everyday lives , structures and experiences of Black women and how Black women are empowered to constantly break barriers . Again , our basileus Soror Youmas was one of four notable panelists . Epsilon Omega Omega celebrates and draws strength from women , past and present , for their courage , tenacity , and perseverance .
Gamma Sigma Omega Sews and Stitches in a Virtual Space

Savannah , GA – Gamma Sigma Omega ( GSO ) Chapter ' s Target 5 : Global Impact Committee event was led by committee chairs Soror LaVertta Scott-Perry and Soror Silviller Watson , members and the community participated in an innovative Virtual Sewing Party . Participants spent the morning following along as Soror Blanche Johnson demonstrated the cutting technique for pillowcase dresses and Soror Eunice Washington demonstrated sewing the dresses together . The sewing group enjoyed a special treat when Layla Vaugh ( age 1 ) and Jasmyn Vaugh ( age 7 ) modeled the colorful creations . Jennifer Goodwin , a community participant , wrote in her review of the Virtual Sewing Party , " I haven ' t sewn in years , and I am grateful for the opportunity to start sewing again on behalf of a good cause . Thank you for the opportunity !" The Pillowcase Project initiative provides dresses and shirts to girls and boys in Haiti . Led by Soror Charlene E . Jones , GSO basileus and Soror Nicole S . Fields program committee chairman , members of Gamma Sigma Omega are committed to serving the children of Haiti . Another Virtual Sewing Party is planned for the near future . These sewing parties will ensure that GSO meets its goal of sending 250 dresses and 150 shirts to Haiti .
