Pi Iota Omega Hosts Conversations with Black Entrepreneurs
White Plains , NY – Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority , Incorporated ® is committed to focus on the intentional recirculation of money , as well as raising awareness of how the Black community spends money . This is encapsulated under the international programming of Target 3 : Building Economic Legacy , Entrepreneurship Black Dollar 365 . The purpose of which is to promote , support , and redirect spending towards Black owned businesses and communities . The idea is to create a selfsustainable community . Buying Black today , represents uplift and pride in ourselves and community , as well as a sense of hope for the future . Pi Iota Omega chapter hosted a program called , " Conversations with Black Entrepreneurs ." A space was created to foster support of Black-owned businesses , but a more personalized engagement . Jessica Johnson , CEO of Johnson Security Bureau , Inc ., as well as Adrienne Nicole , executive producer , and CEO of Adrienne Nicole Productions were featured . Johnson Security Bureau , Inc . is a third-generation family-owned security service based in the Bronx , and Adrienne Nicole Productions , Inc . which had its beginning due to a lupus diagnosis ; both businesses breaking gender barriers . We heard their journey , the challenges and their triumphs , as well as their passion for the work they do .
Epsilon Sigma Omega Hosts Financial Fitness Workshop
Harrisburg , PA – Epsilon Sigma Omega Chapter hosted a virtual Financial Fitness Workshop . The workshop was facilitated by Khadija Bingham , founder , and CEO of Money Honey . Fifty participants attended to learn about foundational personal finance and budgeting principles to build their economic legacy . The presenter emphasized financial planning , asset accumulation , and wealth building including savings and investments , managing debt , and improving credit . A S . W . E . E . T . process was introduced through the Financial Fitness Workshop where we learned how to S-set goals , W-write it down , E-ease into it , E-evolve the process , and T-take the time to do it . We also were introduced to how to track our net worth and formulate a budget .
Phi Beta Omega Holds Trauma Finds Expression
North Wales , PA – Phi Beta Omega Chapter ' s Target 4 : The Arts ! committee provided a donation of $ 1,200 to the Cheyney University Fine Arts Department . With the donation that was provided , the Fine Arts Department created a mural project , " Trauma Finds Expression " for the students in the art therapy course . The project challenged students to create their piece of the mural centered around trauma experienced in their life , which would promote and aid in the healing process . Throughout the project students along with staff and alumni shared stories of abuse , sexual assault , LGBTQ discrimination and a diagnosis of cancer . They noted how art therapy has been a cathartic experience , each artist challenged and supported one another throughout the process . Cheyney University ' s Department of Fine Arts held a virtual reception and screening of the mural project , " Trauma Finds Expression ," in which the Phi Beta Omega Chapter participated . The event was beautiful and emotionally charged and included a documentary and presentation of the mural .

Philadelphia , PA – Omega Omega Chapter held its first virtual MLK Day Impact Weekend . The event featured two workshops led by Target 4 : The Arts ! There were 159 participants that included high school students , parents , as well as chapter members in attendance for a poetry and theater workshop led by two facilitators , Michael Guinn and Talib Andre ' Hester respectively , highlighting the theme , " Dare to Dream : Make Good Trouble ." Also offered was an educational component on the Harlem Renaissance era . Students had an opportunity to engage in creative expression and earn extra credit for school . On Dr . Martin Luther King , Jr . Day , distinguished guest speaker , U . S . Congressman Dwight Evans provided prerecorded remarks including an introduction for a virtual film screening of the documentary , John Lewis : Good Trouble . The film screening hosted 318 attendees with a post-discussion facilitated by undergraduate sorors of Gamma Epsilon and Delta Iota chapters . Students were able to participate in partnership with Bodine High School for International Affairs and Paul Robeson High School for Human Services to earn extra credit . Sorors Kyra Harris and Donna Holland , Co-Chairmen and committee members were acknowledged for their first virtual MLK event that proved to be a success .
Iota Tau Omega Holds Heart Health and MLK Day Programs
West Chester , PA – Iota Tau Omega ( ITO ) Chapter , presented a cardio class via Zoom and Facebook Live to promote heart health . Led by chapter member Brianna Williamson , the session introduced community members to heart healthy ways to work out from home during the pandemic . Brianna completed her BS in Kinesiology from Temple University and BS in Nursing at Drexel University . The cardio session provided insight on adaptations to the cardio routines based on levels of fitness , limitations and / or disabilities . ITO held a Heart Healthy Facts to Live By educational
