Soror Demier Z . Richardson- Sanders , of Beta Zeta Omega Chapter in Orangeburg , SC , will spearhead the SC State University 1890 Research & Extension 4-H Youth Development programs . The mission is to provide learning opportunities and enhance the quality of living for communities across South Carolina . This program is the most extensive youth development program in the nation focused on providing hands-on learning opportunities that contribute to community development . The program offers innovative learning opportunities that encourage proactive leadership through 4-H ' s head , heart , hands , and health through science , agriculture , and civic engagement . Soror Richardson-Sanders has devoted more than two decades to serving and empowering communities across the state . An educator by nature , she has developed summer camps and after-school activities for K-12 children . Additionally , Soror Richardson- Sanders has also provided adult education classes to senior citizens and believes that learning is a continual process regardless of age .

Soror Patricia Rogers , MD , FAAP , was recently named Top Pediatrician in Texas by The Waiting Room Magazine . Soror Rogers is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics , a professional member of the University of Texas of Health and Science Education . She is currently a professor of pediatrics and the director of the School Health Program at UTMB Galveston . The University of Texas Medical Branch , located in Galveston , is an academic health center with 11,000 employees and the oldest medical school in Texas . She has received numerous teaching awards , including two Excellence in Clinical teaching awards by the John P . McGovern Academy of Oslerian Medicine . Soror Rogers completed her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and her medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in 1981 . Soror Rogers is an active member of Beta Phi Omega Chapter and was inducted into Eta Beta Chapter at Vanderbilt University in 1973 .

Sheffield Receives Administrator of the Year
Soror Lynne Sheffield , a member of Eta Nu Omega Chapter , Riverside / San Bernardino , Ca . has been selected as 2021 Association of California Administrators ( ACSA ) Region XIX Administrator of the Year and was also awarded Statewide Administrator of the Year . The ACSA is the largest organization for school leaders in the nation , serving more than 17,000 school leaders . ACSA ' s focus on teaching and learning means the association has led advocacy roles on curriculum issues and improved achievement gaps .
Sloane Honored as Diamond Soror
During the monthly chapter meeting , Psi Rho Omega Chapter of Loudoun County , Virginia , honored new Diamond Soror Lillian Sloane on December 13 , 2020 . Soror Sloane ' s Alpha Kappa Alpha journey began at Virginia State College in Petersburg , Virginia , where she was initiated in 1945 into the Alpha Epsilon Chapter . Her greatest sorority memory is sewing her dress by hand . She says she still has this dress today . Soror Sloane spent her entire 37-year career as an educator in the State of Virginia Public School system , inspiring learners from kindergarten through 12th grade . As an educator , she served for 32 years teaching in Warren County Public Schools in Front Royal and five years in Fauquier County Public Schools .
Smith Recognized as a Diamond Soror
Zeta Omega Chapter celebrates Soror Doris Fields Smith , who was recognized as a Diamond Soror during the North Atlantic Regional Conference . She was initiated in Alpha Epsilon Chapter in 1944 at Virginia State College in Petersburg , Virginia . She joined Zeta Omega in 1958 , where she has been basileus , anti-basileus , and historian . Soror Smith worked to preserve Zeta Omega ' s history and promote the arts . She is known for coordinating theatre trips to New York City , Washington , D . C ., and local theaters throughout the community . She continues to contribute to Zeta Omega ' s annual debutante program through the Doris F . Smith Debutante Legacy Award , thus recognizing the chapter ' s debutante series ' generational support . Soror Smith , now retired , worked as an elementary school teacher and administrator for her entire professional life . She served as chairman of the North Atlantic Region ' s Awards Committee and established the region ' s awards guidelines . She was acknowledged as one of the " 1988 Charter Life Contributors " of the AKA Educational Advancement Foundation , Inc .

Soror Nakia S . Smith , an active member of Eta Omega Omega Chapter in Bronx , NY , is a special education teacher at The Urban Assembly School for the Performing Arts based in Harlem , NY . Soror Smith was elated when she found out her principal nominated her for this year ' s " FLAG Award for Teaching Excellence ." The award recognizes and celebrates extraordinary public-school teachers who inspire learning through creativity , passion , and commitment . The award for the 2020-21 school year focuses on New York City teachers . She was the only African American to be selected as a semi-finalist out of thousands of applicants across the five boroughs . " Although my life wasn ' t easy and was very parallel to the students that I teach , my education is what got me through everything- that is one thing no one can take away from you , and that ' s education ." Soror Smith is currently moving towards an assistant principalship to create a culturally diverse curriculum within the schools .
