Finley Appointed to Board of Regents
Soror Stephanie A . Finley of Lafayette was appointed to the Board of Regents by Governor John Bel Edwards . She will represent the 3rd Congressional District . The Board of Regents serves as the state ' s leading force for talent development through quality and affordable postsecondary education for all . In addition , she is a Louisiana attorney and keynote speaker who is the first woman in the state ' s history to serve as a United States Attorney . Soror Finley was appointed by President Obama in 2010 and served as the District ' s Chief Law Enforcement Officer until 2017 , leading the largest Federal District in Louisiana . She is also a retired lieutenant colonel with over 25 years of service as a judge advocate in the United States Air Force . Soror Finley is a member of Eta Chi Omega Chapter in Lafayette , LA .
Finzi-Smith Named Program Director at UCLA
Soror Amanda Finzi-Smith , of Epsilon Eta Omega Chapter in Pomona , CA , has been named the inaugural interim program director of the University of California Los Angeles ( UCLA ) first-ever Black Bruin Resource Center . This center has been a request from the students for many years . The university has made progress by creating spaces for black students , but this space is the first located within the center of campus and integrates a full-time staff member and dedicated annual funding . Soror Finzi-Smith has been working at UCLA for the past six years serving the residential community while focusing on the needs of Black students at the university . This newly established center aims to uplift , support , and inspire the UCLA Black and Afrikan Diaspora Community . Intending to cultivate community , family , and power , the UCLA BBRC serves as a space where the community can call home . She attended Florida International University , where she received her undergraduate degree in hospitality and tourism management and a master ' s degree in higher education administration .
Floyd Named Dean
Soror Loury Floyd has been named Dean of the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke . She was an associate professor and associate dean for undergraduate programs at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University . Dr . Floyd previously served as president of the North Carolina Association of Colleges and Teacher Educators and served on the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education Board of Examiners . She began her career as a special education teacher in Chesapeake Public Schools . She is passionate about service to the public schools and preparing the next generation of teachers , school counselors , and administrators . Dr . Floyd earned a bachelor ' s degree in special education at North Carolina A & T State University . In addition , she holds a master ' s degree in special education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and a Ph . D . in educational policy , planning , and leadership from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg , Virginia . Soror Floyd was initiated into Alpha Phi Chapter in spring ' 91 and is currently a Beta Iota Omega Chapter member .
Frazier Named to Inspiring Black Scientists List
Soror Monica Frazier , a member of Mu Sigma Omega Chapter in Opelika , AL , has been named to the 2020 list of 1,000 Inspiring Black Scientists in America by the Community of Scholars . Her commitment is fueled by the limited representation of people of color conducting scientific research and pursuing STEM careers . Soror Frazier has written numerous grants and has membership in many professional and civic organizations . She currently serves as professor and interim chair of the Department of Biology and director of the Southwest Georgia LSAMP Alliance at Columbus State University in Columbus , GA . In addition , Soror Frazier , a Life Member , was initiated in Beta Pi Chapter at Alabama State University .
Frett-Gregory Sworn In
Soror Donna Frett-Gregory , charter member and former Basileus of Sigma Theta Omega Chapter , was officially sworn in for a second two-year term as a Senator in the 34th Legislature of the U . S . Virgin Islands . She is currently president of the 34th Legislature and only the third woman to hold that office . In her first term , she sponsored over 30 plus legislations and co-sponsored over 120 plus bills with her colleagues , an unprecedented accomplishment for a freshman senator . In addition , she has hosted numerous empowerment events for women and girls . As a result of her outstanding service and fierce advocacy , she was again the highest vote-getter in her district in the 2020 primary and general elections . In addition , she has received many honors for her service . Soror Frett-Gregory holds an MBA from Western Governors University , an MPA in public administration from the University of the Virgin Islands , a BS degree in business administration from Morgan State University , and a certificate in executive leadership from Harvard University John F . Kennedy School of Government .
Gaskins Named YWCA Career Women of Achievement
Soror Whitney Gaskins , or " Dr . G on the move ," as she is affectionately known by her IG , Twitter , and Facebook followers , has recently been named one of the YWCA Career Women of Achievement . Soror Gaskins is the assistant dean of Inclusive Excellence & Community Engagement at the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering & Applied Science . She was recognized for her contributions and achievements . The program will be aired on local television and streamed online . The area ' s most long-standing local women ' s business award , the YWCA Career Women of Achievement Award , was established in 1980 by the YWCA to increase community awareness and appreciation of the diverse contributions of women in the workforce and the community . The annual award and luncheon honors eight Cincinnati businesswomen who exemplify personal career success , dynamic leadership qualities , and the unique ability to serve as role models .

Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System named LaDonna Butler Green Chief Operating Officer of its multi-state physician organization comprised more than 900 providers . She is responsible for the operations , human resources , financial performance , and growth of the medical group serving communities throughout Louisiana and Mississippi . Specifically , she will oversee the clinic operations in Baton Rouge , Acadiana , Monroe , Northshore in Louisiana , and Jackson , Mississippi . Soror Green previously served as vice president of operations for Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group — a 500 plus provider network serving the Baton Rouge region and the Northshore .
