Guillory Becomes First
Lake Charles native , Soror Cynthia Clay Guillory , became the first Black Juvenile and Family Court Judge in 14th Judicial District Court , Division J . This is not her first , first . She was the first African American female president of the Assistant District Attorney Board of the Louisiana District Attorneys Association and the first African American hired as IV-D coordinator for the Louisiana District Attorneys Association . Her successes are rooted in Jeremiah 29:11 — GOD has a specific plan and a purpose for each of our lives . Her mother , Evelyn Bellow , always stressed the importance of the love of GOD , people , education , and a strong work ethic . Those principles have remained firm with her . Having achieved her lifelong goal of being a judge , Soror Guillory gives back by sharing time with her church , The Father ' s House , and many local , state , and national service organizations .
Hairston named HBCU Advisor of the Year
Soror Veronica Hairston , the current hodegos of the Beta Iota Omega , has received the advisor of the Year Award presented by the HBCU Kings and Queens Conference . This award is a merit-based recognition to an outstanding advisor who has made significant contributions to the success of their University King , Queen , and Royal Court members at HBCUs . The award acknowledges the contributions of the advisor and their support to these students . This award is typically presented at the annual HBCU Kings and Queens Conference , but due to COVID 19 , the award required voting , which was held online . Soror Hairston is currently the assistant director of Student Activities and Campus Involvement and the advisor for Student Government Association / Mister and Miss A & T and their Royal Court at North Carolina A & T State University in Greensboro , NC . She is an alumna of North Carolina A & T State University , where Soror Hairston was a spring 2007 initiate of Alpha Phi Chapter .
Hantz Appointed to Assistant Inspector General
Soror Carolyn Hantz was appointed as the Assistant Inspector General for Audit within the Office of Inspector General at the U . S . Department of Labor . She will oversee the conduct of audits - reviewing the effectiveness , efficiency , economy , and integrity of all Department of Labor programs and operations , including those performed by its contractors and grantees . She obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Howard University in 1983 , became a certified public accountant in 1992 , and obtained her Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University in 2004 . She has had a 37-year career as an auditor and evaluator , being promoted to the senior executive service in September 2008 . In addition , Soror Hantz serves as the pecunious grammateus of Zeta Chi Omega Chapter in Alexandria , Virginia .
Harrison Elected to NAACP
Golden Soror Terry Harrison was recently re-elected to a second term on the Detroit Branch NAACP executive committee . Initiated in 1971 at Western Michigan University Delta Chi chapter , Soror Harrison is currently an Alpha Rho Omega Chapter member . The executive committee has the responsibility to filter all Civil Rights issues that come to the NAACP . As a member of the executive committee , Soror Harrison will be focused on civic engagement , sustainability , education , safety & criminal justice . She is committed to keeping the community engaged in the critical Civil Rights issues we face across our city , state , and country . Soror Harrison is also very proud of her daughter and granddaughters , who are legacies .
James Makes History
Soror Cheryl James , a member of Chi Sigma Omega Chapter in Bolingbrook , Illinois , was recently promoted to Chief Human Resources Officer ( CHRO ) at Hillrom . Hillrom is a global medical technology leader with over 10,000 employees in over 100 countries . Soror James , initiated into Epsilon Xi Chapter at Indiana State University ( ISU ), is the first Black woman to serve as CHRO for Hillrom . No stranger to corporate leadership roles , her career in human resources has spanned over several notable companies , including DowBrands , Pfizer , and Baxter . In addition , Soror James serves on the program committee and bylaws committee in her chapter and sits on the HR advisory committee for ISU .

Soror Shachella James , a member of Mu Kappa Omega in Missouri City , Texas , impacts the utility industry as a leading technology professional . She is the recipient of the 2021 HoustonClO Leadership Award . The CIO Leadership award is based on leadership and management effectiveness , the business value created by technology innovation , size and scope of responsibilities , and engagement in industry and community endeavors . Soror James is the vice president of information technology for an American Fortune 500 electric and natural gas utility serving several markets and over 3 million customers in Arkansas , Indiana , Louisiana , Minnesota , Mississippi , Oklahoma , and Texas . She adds to this , preceding honors as a Woman Who Means Business and CIO magazine One ' s to Watch awards . Soror James is a Xi Psi spring 1990 initiate at Texas A & M University . In addition , she is on the board of GenesysWorks Houston , where she mentors underserved youth and serves as an example of the limitless opportunities for careers in STEM fields .

Soror Lenora Jarvis-Mackey , Zeta Kappa Omega Chapter , Elizabeth City , NC , was recently awarded an Honorary Doctor of Public Service Degree from her alma mater , Elizabeth City State University .
