McDonald : Retired Educator / Silver Star
Newport News , VA – Soror Voncile McDonald became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on December 9 , 2020 . Soror McDonald earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Alabama State University , Montgomery , AL . She taught in the Smithfield Public Schools , Smithfield , VA . Soror McDonald was initiated in Lambda Omega Chapter in 1991 , where she served on the heart health committee participating in the Pink Goes Red Impact Day activities . She was a member of First Baptist Church Denbigh , Newport News , VA , where she served as an usher and a missionary . Soror McDonald is survived by her husband , one son , two daughters , two grandchildren , and her sorority sisters .
Mills : Cluster VIII Coordinator / Charter Member / Golden Soror / Life Member
Rock Hill , SC – Soror Eliza Walker Mills became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She was initiated in Gamma Delta Chapter , JCSU . She attended Johnson C . Smith University ( JSCU ) and New York University . A dedicated public-school teacher , Soror Mills taught in Beaufort County , York , SC , and Washington , DC . In the Rock Hill community , she was active in the civil rights movement . She was one of a few black teachers to teach in select white schools in preparation for dismantling segregation in the SC public school system . Soror Mills was a Charter Member of Eta Alpha Omega Chapter and former basileus . She was the catalyst behind chartering Mu Xi Chapter at Winthrop University . She was preceded in death by her husband , James S . Mills , her parents , and eleven siblings . She is survived by her sister , Abbie G . Walker , and a host of nieces , nephews , cousins , and friends .
Mims : Retired Educator / Pearl Soror / Life Member
Columbus , GA – Pearl Soror Anna Mims became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She received a bachelor ’ s degree in business administration from Morris Brown and a master ' s degree from Georgia State University . Soror Mims was initiated in 1955 . She traveled extensively with her husband of 55 years , the late Sergeant First Class Johnny L . Mims , working as a classroom educator retiring from the Muscogee County Schools after 35 years . Soror Mims was a Gamma Tau Omega Chapter member , where she founded the Anna Mims Heritage Bowl . She held several offices and served on several committees . She was also a Life Member with 65 years of service . She was a member of Allen Temple AME Church . In addition , she was a member of the Columbia Heights Neighborhood Association , Morris Brown Alumni Association , and Retired Educators Associations . Surviving family members include her children , Soror Jacqueline Mims Jennings and Cavanaugh Mims , Sr . ( Telicia ), and a host of other family and friends .
Mitchell : Retired Educator / Author
Rochester , NY – Soror Alma Porter Campbell Mitchell became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . Soror Mitchell received a Bachelor of Science degree from Savannah State University , where she was initiated into Gamma Upsilon Chapter . She received a master ' s degree from SUNY Brockport , NY , and did postgraduate studies at Harvard Graduate School of Education , Harvard Principals Center , and Oxford University in Oxford , England . Soror Campbell was an educator for over 40 years with the Rochester City School District . She wrote articles and books on educational initiatives and innovations and received numerous awards for leadership and improvements in education . At one time , she was an active member of Delta Nu Omega , Rochester , NY . As a retired educator , Soror Campbell Mitchell served as the Ivy Leaf ® reporter . In addition , she was a member of the Memorial AME Zion Church for more than 40 years . Soror Campbell Mitchell leaves to celebrate her memory , a devoted husband , other relatives , and numerous friends .
Mitchell : Librarian / Educator
Columbus , MS — Soror Lyndia Heard Mitchell became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She was initiated in 2004 in Nu Epsilon Omega Chapter , where she served as anti-basileus and chaplain . As an active member of Armstrong Missionary Baptist Church , she worked as a Sunday School teacher , youth director , missionary president , senior choir president , and Vacation Bible School director . In 1988 , Soror Heard Mitchell organized a youth program called " Study Buddy ." She earned an undergraduate degree and a master ' s degree in library science from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus , Mississippi . In addition , she earned a specialist degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University . Soror Heard Mitchell worked in the Columbus Municipal School District as a media specialist for 36 years , where she loved working with children . She was awarded " Teacher of the Year " twice during her career and was chosen as " Librarian Extraordinaire ” by the Columbus Dispatch . She was married 52 years to Walter E . Mitchell , with whom she had two daughters , Elizabeth and Joyce .

LaGrange , GA – Soror Mable Mitchell became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She was an active Golden / Life Member for over 66 years . She was initiated into Gamma Gamma Chapter at Morris Brown College in 1946 . Soror Mable became a charter member of Theta Xi Omega Chapter in 1967 . She served on many committees and held various positions in the chapter . She was a lifelong educator in Greenville , GA ( Meriwether County ) School System . Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter , Stephanie , and her three granddaughters .
