Hart : Former Basileus
Boyton Beach , FL – Xi Pi Omega ' s charter member , Soror Nadine Hart , became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . Soror Hart was initiated on December 10 , 1976 , into Kappa Kappa Omega Chapter . As a member of the sorority , she served as the fourth president of the Xi Pi Omega Chapter . In addition , she was a Life Member of the sorority . She volunteered her time with the Frances J . Bright Woman ' s Club and Foundation , the Nacirema Club , the NAACP , the Spady Museum , the Orchid Society , the Cavaliers and Cavalets Club of Bethune Cookman College , among many others . Soror Hart leaves behind a community that cherished her commitment to service , sorors who love and adore her , and family and friends who will always cherish special moments and memories made during her lifespan .
Hayes : Retired Administrator / Educator
Ocala , FL – Soror Cecelia Izora Isham-Hayes became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She graduated from North Carolina College with a bachelor ' s degree in biology and later received her master ' s degree from North Carolina College in health education . Soror Hayes rendered 30 years of untiring employment within the Broward County School System in various capacities such as administrator , director , and teacher . A significant achievement was when she worked as an assistant in the office and under the Late Mary McCleod Bethune at Bethune Cookman . Soror Hayes was a charter member of Zeta Rho Omega Chapter , which was chartered in 1955 . She was an active member of Mount Hermon AME Church before retiring to Ocala , Florida . She leaves to cherish her memory , her children LaTriece , Lois , Raj , sons-in-law , grand-children and greatgrand-children , sister , brother , and sister-in-law .
Haymon-Phillips : Educator / Golden Soror / Life Member
Pittsburgh , PA – Soror Francene Haymon-Phillips became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . Soror Haymon-Phillips attended Howard University before attending Shaw University , where she earned her bachelor ’ s and was initiated into Beta Rho Chapter over 53 years ago . She earned her master ’ s , doctorate , and special certifications from the University of Pittsburgh . She served dutifully in various offices , including graduate advisor to Mu Omicron Chapter at Slippery Rock University . Soror Haymon-Phillips retired after 33 years as a professor from the Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania . Among her roles , she served as interim director of the Office of Minority Affairs . In addition , she was active in the Pennsylvania Black Conference on Higher Education . She is survived by her husband Charles Phillips , daughter Dakota A . Haymon , brother , Dr . Elmer Haymon Jr ., and a host of relatives and sorors .
Haynes : Retired Educator / Charter Member / Diamond Soror / Life Member
Queens , NY – Diamond Soror Juanita King Haynes became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . Soror Haynes was initiated into the Beta Omicron Chapter , in 1945 where she earned a bachelor ' s degree in music . She was a high school music educator and a charter member of Pi Phi Omega Chapter . While teaching , Soror Haynes accepted a teaching position in New York and earned her master ' s degree in education at Columbia University . An educator for 34 years , she also enjoyed being a wife , mother to three children , and member of the Grace United Methodist Church of St . Albans . In addition , she served as chairman of the music committee and the hospitality and scholarship committees , where she aided in awarding scholarships to many college-bound students . Cherishing her memory are her family , close friends , and sorors .
Hemphill : Nurse / Silver Star
Washington , DC – Soror Nannie ( Nan ) Louise Hemphill became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on December 9 , 2020 . She worked at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and Duke University Hospital in Durham , NC . She relocated to Washington , DC , and worked at the Washington Hospital Center , where she taught students to become surgical technicians . Soror Hemphill later worked at Freedmen Hospital ( now Howard University Hospital ), where she retired in 1992 as the associate director of the operating room / outpatient clinics and cardiovascular lab . Throughout her career , she was active in the Black Nurses Association , the Association of Operating Room Nurses , the Association of Nursing Administrators , and Sigma Theta Tau International , the Honor Society of Nursing . Soror Hemphill dedicated her life to her family , her church , East Washington Heights Baptist Church : The Charlotte Club of Washington , DC , and the sorority . Soror Hemphill leaves to mourn her sister-in-law , three generations of nieces and nephews , a host of friends , former co-workers , and sorors .
Hill : Retired Social Worker / Counselor / Community Leader
Evanston , IL – Golden Soror Sandra Denise Hill became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She was initiated in 1969 into Gamma Chi Chapter at Northwestern University , where she received her Bachelor of Arts in sociology and Master of Arts in counseling . She spent more than 50 years utilizing her social worker and counseling skills , building and strengthening individuals and families of the Evanston community . She was the director of Family Focus , a prominent African American Community Center that provides support services to all family members , from infants to grandparents . She worked as coordinator of the Gale Sayers Center for African American Adoption . She was a member and servantleader of Second Baptist Church and sat on numerous nonprofit and community boards . Soror Hill became a member of Delta Chi Omega Chapter in 1971 and served in many leadership roles , including anti-basileus , graduate advisor , connections chairman , and standards chairman . She leaves to cherish her memory , her husband James of 50 years , children : Janine , Melanie , Ryan , granddaughter Nia , and many friends .
