Davis : Retired Editor / Educator / Silver Star
Orlando , FL — Soror Carol Davis became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . Soror Davis was initiated in 1988 in Delta Omicron Omega Chapter and remained active throughout her 32 years of service . She held several offices , including anti-basileus , basileus , and historian . She was the chairman of the board for the Petals of Hope Foundation , Inc ., where she played a significant role in beginning the Transport to Care Fund with the now Advent Hospital . She published the chapter ' s first history book and was awarded Soror of the Year in 2005 . She served two consecutive terms as the co-president for the Orange County League of Women Voters . She championed the restoration of voting rights for convicted felons who completed their sentences . She also organized a movement in support of civil citations for first-time juvenile offenders to avoid arrest . She was also a member of the National Congress of Black Women . In addition , Soror Davis was a former first-grade teacher and editor at a publishing company .
Delfyett : Retired Educator / Golden Soror
Fairfax , VA – Golden Soror Eleanor M . Bryan Delfyett became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . Soror Delfyett was initiated in Alpha Mu Chapter at Hunter College , where she received a BS in physiology and a master ' s degree in education . Soror Delfyett was a charter member of Pi Psi Omega Chapter . She also was a charter member of the Rockland County Chapter of Jack & Jill of America , Inc . Soror Delfyett was an educator in the New York City Public School System for over 30 years until retirement and served as coordinator of a program that assisted minority students in getting into the medical profession . After moving to , she became a member of Lambda Kappa Omega Chapter in Fairfax , VA . She leaves to cherish her memory , her husband of 51 years , Michael Delfyett ; son , Christopher Delfyett ; daughter , Soror Karen M . Delfyett ; mother , Pauline Bryan ; sister , Diana Cagle ; nephews and nieces , including sorors Donna Delfyett-White and Deanna White-Allen ; and other soror cousins .
Dredd : Retired Educator / Silver Star / Life Member
Pomona , CA – Soror Margaret Young-Dredd of Epsilon Eta Omega Chapter became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on January 4 , 2021 . Soror Dreed was initiated into Alpha Gamma Omega in 1975 . She attended Mary Allen Jr . College , where she received an associate of arts degree . She moved to Houston , where she attended Texas Southern University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1950 . She worked as a teacher in Houston for seven years . Soror Dredd later moved to Los Angeles , where she attended California State University and earned a master ' s degree in education . She taught in classrooms and held other positions , such as project manager , consultant , and supervisor of research and evaluation . She retired from the Compton Unified School District after 24 years . Soror Dredd ' s life and memory will continue to be celebrated by her 14 nieces and nephews , including Soror Patricia Ware-Williams .
Earhart : Educator / Silver Star
Cincinnati , OH – Soror Marlene E . Earhart became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on December 19 , 2020 . She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1967 from Central State University . Soror Earhart was initiated into Sigma Omega Chapter in 1977 . She completed a Master of Arts degree in education at Xavier University . She worked as an educator for 30 years for Cincinnati Public Schools . She served as the vice president of the Wyoming Oak Avenue School Alumni Association . She was also a board-certified real estate agent . She enjoyed traveling , especially to the Caribbean and Europe . Soror Earhart was a Silver Star with more than 40 years of service to the sorority .
English : Criminal Justice Expert
Waldorf , MD – Soror Chris McDaniel-English became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on March 19 , 2021 . She was a charter member of Rho Rho Chapter at Indiana University of PA ( IUP ) during the spring of 1997 . She earned both her bachelor ’ s and Master of Science in criminology from IUP . Her professional career spans over 25 years in the criminal justice field , with her most recent 12-year tenure as a community supervisor officer in the District of Columbia . Soror English and her family relocated from her hometown of Pittsburgh , PA , to Maryland in 2006 . She decided to make Psi Epsilon Omega her home chapter in 2017 after being invited to visit her line sister . She was known for her warm smile , loving nature , and unwavering sisterliness . In addition , she was dedicated to her family and loved ones . She is remembered by her husband Bryan English ; sons Preston , Devin , and Bryan C . English ; her parents , William and Althea McDaniel ; brothers Daryl and Fred McDaniel and a host of other family , friends , and sorors .
Fleming : Retired Educator
Charlottesville , VA – Soror Verna Jones Fleming became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia State University and completed additional coursework at the University of Virginia . She taught physical education for elementary and middle school students in Albemarle and Charlottesville School Divisions . Her students , now adults , remember her with gratitude for making learning fun , building relationships , and lifelong skills . An avid sports enthusiast , she spent 16 years with the Charlottesville Parks and Recreation . Soror Fleming retired in1974 and was initiated in Eta Phi Omega Chapter . Soror Verna Fleming leaves those to cherish her memory , son Keith R . Gordon and wife , Reba ; granddaughter Sarah G . Cole and husband , Cassius ; and many loving family members , friends , and sorors .
