Upsilon Rho Omega Feeds Healthcare Workers for MLK Impact Day
Overland Park , KS – Upsilon Rho Omega chapter honored the legacy of Dr . Martin Luther King , Jr . by participating in the 2021 MLK Day of Service Impact Day . On Friday , January 15 , 2021 , the chapter partnered with Samuel U . Rodgers Health Center in Kansas City , Missouri . The Samuel U . Rodgers Health Center is named after Dr . Samuel U . Rodgers , MD , MPH . Dr . Rodgers was an African American physician and advocate for quality healthcare for the poor and underprivileged in Kansas City , Missouri . The center was founded in 1968 and was the first community health center to be federally recognized in the state of Missouri . Upsilon Rho Omega members represented the chapter and showed appreciation to fifteen healthcare providers for their hard work and dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic . The healthcare workers were served lunch from Geaux Catering , a local black owned and operated catering company .
Delta Epsilon Omega Co-Hosts Event with Omaha Performing Arts
Omaha , NE – Delta Epsilon Omega Chapter co-hosted an event under the series Voices AMPLIFIED ! through the Omaha Performing Arts Center . Under the direction of Soror Gennean Scott , the Performing Arts Center Vice President of Human Capital and Inclusion , Voices AMPLIFIED ! is a series of events . The events will elevate artists and their work in social justice through live music , dance and spoken word . This new series will include panel discussions by local and community partners on food , health , # BlackVoicesMatter and more . Delta Epsilon Omega Chapter co-hosted one event in the series of Voices AMPLIFIED ! The event featured a lunch and live discussion with jazz artist Alicia Olatuja as she and Soror Gennean Scott discuss the black woman ' s voice in music .
Mu Lambda Omega Mobilizes to Fight Voter Suppression
Culver City , CA – During HBCU week , Mu Lambda Omega ( MLO ) Chapter ' s AKA connection committee lead by Soror Buffany Hunter collaborated with the HBCU committee led by Soror Charmain Young to host a virtual panel discussion on Brave New Film ' s " Suppressed : The Fight to Vote ," that was also livestreamed on Facebook Live . Panelists included AKA members Shakari Byerly , Nicole J . Jones , and Patrice Marshall McKenzie and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity , Inc . member Lawrence Ross . During HBCU week Mu Lambda Omega host a virtual panel discussion on Brave New Film ' s " Suppressed : The Fight to Vote ".
state of California . This engaging discussion shed light on the problem of voter suppression in communities of color , how we can mobilize our communities and highlighted the role our HBCUs can play . Our theme for HBCU week was " Intersection : Urgency and Perspective ." Through sharing our perspectives , we demonstrated the collective power of our community at this moment of national social unrest . This exchange of information dispelled myths about voting by mail and left attendees with more than 20 practical tips for mobilizing voters . Approximately 80 virtual participants attended the event , streaming live to 172 people and reaching 960 views via social media within the first 72 hours . Our call-to-action was to challenge attendees to educate , register and mobilize voters . This presentation is available on MLO ’ s Facebook & YouTube .

Alpha Alpha Iota Omega Supports COVID-19 Vaccination Program
Glendale , AZ – Alpha Alpha Iota Omega ( AAIO ) sisters participated in the " Communities of Color Coming Together to Beat COVID " event . This was the chapter ' s first in-person community service event under the new phase-in program . The event was a partnership with Arizona Complete Health , Arizona State University , The Arizona Department of Emergency Management and The Arizona Diamondbacks . Eight AAIO chapter members volunteered for a 6-hour shift at the Phoenix Municipal Stadium . The volunteers performed tasks such as traffic control , hospitality , and signing clients up for their second vaccination appointments . The volunteers were offered the opportunity to receive a vaccination at the end of their shift .
