isolation during the pandemic . We wrote encouraging letters to 45 seniors residing in an assisted living facility and shared sisterly sentiments in letters to our diamond , pearl , golden and senior silver star sorors . Chapter members made this day of service a family event by having our children participate by drawing pictures to accompany some of the letters . Our MLK Day of Service culminated via Zoom as chapter members reflected on our letters and the legacy of Dr . Martin Luther King Jr . Theta Alpha Omega was featured in the Leadership Long Beach Newsletter , highlighting our chapter ' s participation in the Silver Letters Campaign .
Alpha Gamma Omega Celebrates Five Diamond Sorors
Los Angeles , CA - Alpha Gamma Omega Chapter celebrated five of our diamond sorors at a virtual joint chapter meeting with our undergraduate chapter , Iota Beta . Our first diamond became a diamond soror in 2018 . These diamond sorors really do " Shine Bright Like a Diamond ." Seventyfive plus years of service , these diamonds have exemplified the true meaning of lifelong membership . They have chaired many committees , held chapter offices , and shared their talents and gifts with timeless service . They have remained active throughout their diamond years . Soror Marguerite Hodge ( top left ) was initiated in Alpha Epsilon Chapter ( 1941 ), received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Virginia State University ; Soror Agatha Lang ( top right ) was initiated in Alpha Pi Chapter ( 1946 ), received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from

Clark College ; Soror Evelyn Brackeen ( bottom left ) ( died just after article was submitted ) was initiated in Alpha Iota Chapter ( 1946 ), received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Lincoln University ( MO ); Soror Rosemarie Cook-Glover ( bottom center ) was initiated in Nu Chapter ( 1946 ), received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from West Virginia State University ; Soror Mary Covington ( bottom right ) was initiated in Nu Chapter ( 1946 ), received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Education from Virginia State University . Each of our diamonds went on to obtain graduate degrees . We proudly salute them .
Tau Tau Omega Hosts Pink Goes Red for Heart Health Week
Los Angeles , CA – Tau Tau Omega ( TTO ) Chapter hosted a virtual Pink Goes Red for Heart Health Week in observance of AKA Pink Goes Red Impact Day . The week began with an informative discussion led by Dr . Jessica Sims who serves on the board of directors for the Los Angeles Division of the American Heart Association followed by a virtual cooking class hosted by Executive Chef Charlene Powell Hamilton . Dr . Sims led a discussion about the importance of heart health , the effects of heart disease on the African American community , and how to get involved with
Tau Tau Omega Chapter members dressed in red to raise awareness for heart disease and to honor those who have been affected by this disease .
the American Heart Association . The cooking class with Chef Charlene allowed participants to cook a healthy and delicious meal in their homes while learning nutrition facts and discovering new heart-healthy recipes . The week included a yoga class led by Soror Melitta Johnson , a certified Yoga and mindfulness instructor . During the class , participants were able to get active , destress and learn how exercise is an important way to stay heart healthy . The week culminated with a virtual line dancing class co-hosted by Tau Tau Omega and Theta Mu Omega ( Inglewood , CA ). This class was a way for participants to " work up a sweat " and virtually fellowship . Donations collected enabled both chapters to raise nearly $ 1,000 for the American Heart Association . TTO is committed to helping the community stay heart healthy and fight back against heart disease !
Xi Gamma Omega Hosts MLK Virtual Day of Service
Oakland , CA – Xi Gamma Omega ( XGO ) Chapter , celebrated Martin Luther King , Jr . Day of Service by making an impact through virtual conferencing . The Community Service Chairman , Soror Roma Groves-Waters and her committee delivered an online conference for 154 participants . The conference began with a welcome by our Basileus , Dr .
