beginning with Tau Chapter , the impetus for pursuing a South Bend chapter , and vision for the chapter and members commitment . Soror Allen presented a chapter resolution and an award of gratitude to Soror Joyce . Sorors remained for a luncheon and socialization . Several inactive sorors inquired about reactivation in their local areas .
Omicron Sigma Omega Hosts Target Events
Bowling Green , KY – The Arts and HBCU for Life committees engaged the community in several events . The most recent involved discussion of Vice President Harris ' book , The Truths We Hold : An American Journey . This March 29th Zoom occurrence celebrated Women ' s History Month in partnership with Omicron Sigma Omega and the local NAACP WIN , comprising an audience of the two organizations ' members and the general public . Attendees engaged in discussion during and after the presentation . Two books awarded as door prizes were Cicely Tyson ' s Just As I Am and Isabel Wilkerson ' s Caste . Two weeks prior on March 14 , Destiny O ' Rourke , college and career readiness coach at Bowling Green High , was the featured presenter for the chapter ' s " HBCU – # CAP SM Summit 2 : Scholarship and Financial Aid Workshop ." At this gathering parents , students , sorors , and other attendees were updated on seeking and maintaining the many available educational funds . Emphasized were the importance of early preparation , meeting deadlines , maintaining good grades , FASFA , and many other aspects of the topic pointing students toward success . Contact information for further help was also provided . As part of OSO ' s Highlight Art Monthly , an awe-striking painting created by high school student , Amaya Robey , was displayed during this time . HBCU- # CAP SM Summit 1 : The college experience brought together high school students and parents with graduates and current students of HBCUs who gave them a view of life during college and career successes afterwards . The panelists ' experiences of college and work ranged from one to 50 years .
Gamma Omega Celebrates 100th Anniversary
St . Louis , MO – Gamma Omega Chapter , the third oldest graduate chapter celebrated their 100th Anniversary on December 2 , 2020 . During this milestone , the chapter began the festivities with a kick-off celebration . Throughout 2020 , the chapter commemorated the anniversary dedication to the St . Louis Metropolitan Area by completing 100 Acts of Service which were listed in the St . Louis American newspaper . The last week of November , all members received an exclusive Gamma Omega Centennial Box which contained customized Gamma Omega scarf , jewelry , champagne glass , power bank , ink pen ,

notebook , picture frame and a bottle of champagne for the toast during the virtual centennial gala . Additionally , the Centennial Gamma Omega Chapter logos were both displayed on a digital billboard along one of the busiest highways in St . Louis . During the week of their centennial , Gamma Omega was featured on the Missouri History Museum ' s History Live program ; sponsored a day of service supporting two Black owned businesses raising a $ 1,000 between the two ; and the 53rd basileus was featured on radio station 96.3FM . Charter Day began with prayer , a spotlight on the NBC Today Show , and ended with a public meeting saluting Community Partners . The chapter culminated activities on December 5th with a virtual gala . It began with sorors arriving on a virtual pink carpet , celebrated sisterhood , and service to the sounds of Denise Thimes and a virtual fireworks finale .
Omicron Theta Omega Awards # CAP SM Scholarship
St . Louis , MO – While exemplifying excellence in education & service , Omicron Theta Omega Chapter hosted a " Rise Up " event , where a deserving student was awarded a college tuition scholarship . Over the past year , a group of St . Louis students demonstrated high scholastic achievement in preparation of their college experience . The program empowered students to enhance their potential , maximize their performance and achieve the goal of having a successful continuing education . The event began with a celebration via zoom where all of the participating students gathered to listen to Soror Shelia Powell Walker who is not only a member , but also on the board of education for the Ferguson-Florissant School District . Her expertise highlighted the importance of continuing education leaving students , feeling more excited about their futures . This year ' s recipient was high school senior Alexis Kemp . Alexis participated in both the ASEND and # CAP SM programs during the past four years . Alexis will be attending Morgan State University in Baltimore , Maryland . After the event , members of Omicron Theta Omega Chapter decorated their vehicles and joined together for a motorcade and parade to present the honor .

University City , MO – Omicron Eta Omega Chapter held its first holiday virtual Pop Up Shop . The event was executed by Soror Kelli Holland and Target 3 Building Your Economic Legacy committee . This pop-up shop hosted 14 Black owned businesses that showcased their goods and services for the holiday shopping season . Six vendors donated giveaways to those in attendance . Vendors sold merchandise ranging from apparel , specialty foods ,
