There are approximately 1,000 homeless families being helped at the Men ' s Development Center and the Women and Family Development Center at Star of Hope ' s Cornerstone . Its mission dovetails nicely with women ' s healthcare and wellness . The chapter is honored to be selected as a recipient of the Ivy Storehouse grant and award it to this deserving organization .
HMAC Holds Founders ' Day 2021
Houston , TX – The Houston Metropolitan Area Chapters ( HMAC ) had the privilege of celebrating the 113th Founders ' Day Observance : Unprecedented Excellence in Unprecedented Times , which was followed by a sisterly relations activity . The keynote speaker was the SENSATIONAL South Central Regional Director , Joya Hayes , who delivered a message that honored the 113th anniversary . During these unprecedented times , Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority , Inc . ® has been able to continue our presence on the forefront of social justice which is the premise of which our great sorority was founded . Sorors were encouraged to commit to continue the level of excellence that the sorority is based upon . With an official registration of 1,674 sorors , which consisted of HMAC chapter members , general members , and inactive members , HMAC raised a grand total $ 8,306.64 . The donations allowed HMAC to make donations benefiting all five international program Target areas .

Chi Omicron Omega Hosts Virtual Real Estate Investing Happy Hour
Katy , TX – Chi Omicron Omega ' s Target 3 : Building Your Economic Legacy committee hosted a virtual happy hour to educate the community about
Celebrating 100 Years of Ivy Leaf ® Magazine the benefits of building an economic legacy through real estate investing . Attendees were encouraged to grab their favorite beverage and snack as they were presented with information on topics such as : Five Key Ways to Make Money in Real Estate ; The Difference Between Flipping and Investing ; and How to Properly Evaluate a Deal . Over 40 attendees via Zoom and over 1,000 individuals via our live Facebook stream and recording were exposed to knowledge and resources to help get them started and achieve success in their investments . The discussion featured the expertise of the chapter ' s very own Candice McConnell who is a seasoned property investor , and Jermeshia Goudeau who is a licensed real estate agent and broker . Participants were able to have their questions answered in real time and one lucky raffle winner received a voucher for a complimentary one on one real estate investing coaching session . Several individuals have expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to receive such valuable information at no cost during a time of such economic uncertainty .
Nu Omega Gives $ 1,000 to Mission Marshall

Marshall , TX – The Nu Omega Chapter made a $ 1,000 donation to Mission Marshall . During a virtual chapter meeting , members of the sorority discussed how the global pandemic continues to put a strain on community service organizations that assist families in crisis . In an unanimous vote , chapter members approved a $ 1,000 donation to Mission Marshall . The funds will be used to keep the pantry stocked with nonperishable food items . In the Marshall newspaper , Nu Omega Anti- Basileus Soror Angela Fitzpatrick issued a challenge to the community to donate to Mission Marshall or a social service organization of their choice . " We invite other organizations to join us . Every donation is going to help make a difference as the need for more food and assistance with the cost-of-living increases ," she said . Mission Marshall Executive Director Misty Scott says the need is always greater after the busy holiday season . Because of the global pandemic , demand for assistance from food banks is on the rise . " We thank Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for recognizing the need and thinking about Mission Marshall ," she said . Chapter Basileus Linda Lundie thanked sorors for their generosity . " As a sorority , we help each other and this means helping the communities around us ," she said .
