Perine : Retired Educator / Golden Soror / Life Member
Mobile , AL – Soror Catherine Witherspoon Perine , a Delta Theta Omega Chapter member , became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on May 19 , 2021 . She was initiated into Gamma Eta Chapter in 1968 and received a bachelor ' s degree from Knoxville College and a master ' s degree from the University of South Alabama . She worked for thirty-five years at Bishop State as a counselor . She was an active member of the Delta Theta Omega Marie Roberts Ensemble , Stewart Memorial CME Church Messengers , and the Order of the Eastern Star . She was preceded in death by her parents , Dan Witherspoon and Catherine Pompey Witherspoon , brothers McKinley Witherspoon , Dan Witherspoon II , and Ronald Edward Witherspoon , a sister , Mary Lenora Witherspoon , and one niece , Miriam Witherspoon . She leaves to cherish her memory sister Bernadette Witherspoon Johnson , her children , Casey LaTrice Perine , Wesley Danord Perine ( Naomig ), Una F . Williamson ( Derrick ), John W . Perine Jr ., and a host of other family members , relatives , and friends .
Pryor : Educator / Diamond Soror
Springfield , MA – Soror Dorothy Jordan Pryor became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . Soror Pryor was initiated in 1942 through Pi Chapter at Fisk University . She was a charter member of Xi Xi Omega Chapter . She received her master ' s degree from the University of Chicago and pursued further graduate studies at Springfield College , Howard University , and the University of Massachusetts Amherst . She began a teaching career at Kentucky State University , Technical High School in Springfield , and finally at Springfield Technical Community College ( STCC ). She was named Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year . She served as an affirmative action officer , where she received three Affirmative Action Equal Employment Opportunity Awards . The then-governor appointed her as a Trustee of STCC . After 20 years of service , STCC renamed its lecture series the Dorothy J . Pryor Lecture Series . Those left to cherish her memory are a host of friends , church family , and relatives , including her son Albert C . Pryor III .
Pigford : Retired Educator / Author / Historian / Golden Soror
Denver , CO – Soror Clementine Washington Pigford became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on April 30 , 2021 . She attended Kansas State University and the University of Colorado at Boulder , where she earned a degree in Speech Pathology in 1965 . She went on to earn a master ' s degree from the University of Northern Colorado . She married Robert Edward Pigford in 1964 . She worked for Denver Public Schools as an English teacher until she retired in 1998 . She then worked with the Northeast Denver Housing authority for ten years . She also worked for the Denver Sheriff ' s Department as an education specialist until her retirement in 2015 . Her awards and honors are too numerous to list . Soror Pigford was a published author , a historian of the Denver African American community , and an active sorority member for more than 50 years . Soror Pigford was initiated into Alpha Kappa Chapter in 1962 .
Reece : Retired Educator / Silver Soror
Houston , TX – Soror Maudie Reece became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She was initiated into Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter on October 16 , 1977 . She was a member of the sorority with 43 years of service . She served enthusiastically as chairman of the little sister , big sister program , co-chairman of the connection committee , and served on the African American history , lifelong learning , National Pan Hellenic Council of Houston , Founders ' Day , hostess , hospitality , and All Kare Action committees and participated in many South Central Regional conferences , cluster retreats , and boules . She was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church as a faithful servant in many capacities . Soror Reece also served her community as the former president and vice president of the Northeast Civic Club . She leaves to cherish her memory , a daughter Soror Lisa Reece , nieces , nephews , and cousins .
Price : Retired Educator / Guidance Counselor
Chattanooga , TN – Soror Emma Jean Walls Price became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on February 21 , 2021 . Soror Price earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tuskegee University and was initiated into the Gamma Kappa Chapter . She furthered her education at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga , earning a Master of Science with honors in counseling . After dedicating 40 years to the Chattanooga Public School System and Hamilton County Schools ; a middle school science teacher , middle and high school guidance counselor , and college counselor . As a faithful member of Greater Tucker Missionary Baptist Church , she dedicated a lifetime of service in multiple leadership capacities , including president of the E . P . Crutcher Scholarship Committee , Women ' s Day chairperson , Mother ' s Day speaker , Usher Board No . 2 , and Mission Ministry . She leaves a legacy of excellence and a loving family who will cherish her memory , especially her devoted daughters , Sorors Nicelle Price Gray and Kimberly Spears .
Robinson : Retired Educator / Pearl Soror / Life Member
Cleveland , OH – Soror Pearlie " Pearl " Robinson was initiated in 1950 on the campus of Alabama State University , Beta Pi Chapter , in Montgomery , Alabama . She was a charter member of Lambda Phi Omega Chapter in Cleveland , where she served in various chapter officer positions , including chaplain and financial secretary . As chaplain , she brought inspirational , reflective , humorous , and spiritual meditations . As financial secretary , she was a meticulous record-keeper . Before she passed away , Soror Robinson was recognized as a member of the sorority ' s inaugural class of Pearl Sorors . In addition to her AKA involvement , she was an active member of Lee Road Baptist Church , the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa , Inc ., Alpha Xi Chapter , and the Cleveland Chapter of the National Alumni Association of Alabama State University . Soror Robinson was a true gem and cherished her sorority .
