Lewis : Retired Educator / Diamond Soror
Nashville , TN – Soror Audrey Eubanks Lewis became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . Soror Lewis was initiated in the Gamma Chapter on May 1 , 1943 . She was a member of the Alpha Delta Omega Chapter , serving on the precious pearls cotillion and Ivy Center planning committees and attending many regional conferences and boules . She was a health and physical education professor at Tennessee State University for 30 years and retired as the department head . She loved her church Holy Trinity Episcopal , and its members , where she was an active participant . One of her favorite pastimes was playing bridge with Soror Earline Hudson . She enjoyed traveling , having visited exotic places worldwide , including India , China , and Egypt . She is survived by her daughters Soror Geri Johnson Osby , Dr . Lynn C . Lewis , and Soror Yvette L . Bose ( Eric ), grandchildren , great-grandchildren , many relatives , and friends and will forever be in our hearts .
Lewis : Manager / Coach / Silver Star / Life Member
Philadelphia , PA – Initiated into the Xi Chi Chapter , Life Member Gail Lashawn Lewis served for 29 years before becoming an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She attended the University of Michigan-Flint and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1995 . She received her master ' s degree in human resources in 2003 and her doctorate in management . Soror Lewis was the current president of the Ivy Legacy Foundation and a member of Rho Theta Omega Chapter . She was an active member of the National Association of Parliamentarians . General Motors employed her for over 20 years as the plant manager until her death . Soror Lewis loved to travel and has been to every city within the United States that has held the biennial conference and Leadership Seminars since 2000 . She leaves to cherish her memory , mother , Willie Mae Lewis Bivins and father Rev . Morris C . Lewis , siblings , host of relatives , friends , and beloved sorors .
McClain : Communications Specialist / Creative Director
Fairfield , AL – Soror Rukiya Ponyee McClain became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She was initiated in Upsilon Eta Omega Chapter on November 24 , 2013 , and served as social media chairman and was instrumental on the following committees : technology , public relations , standards , and sisterly relations . Soror McClain served two administrations as social media chairman for the South Eastern Region under Regional Directors Sorors Mary B . Conner and Mitzi Dease Paige . She was a member of the Tri-County ( AL ) Chapter of The Links , Incorporated , serving on the national social media governance board . In addition , she was a member of various organizations and numerous boards . She enjoyed spending time with her family , friends and traveling . Soror Lewis was a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and was employed at the University of Alabama at Birmingham ' s Office of Human Resources as a communications specialist , and was the creative director and owner of RM Advertising and Design .
McLaurin : Counselor / Silver Soror
Fayetteville , NC – Soror Pamela Staten McLaurin became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on January 24 , 2021 . Soror McLaurin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Fayetteville State University and was initiated into Delta Alpha Chapter . She obtained a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Education from Capella University . She held the position of professional school counselor with E . E . Smith High School and served as the cheerleading . As a member of Upsilon Kappa Omega Chapter , she served in many capacities , and her sweet spirit enlightened others with her smile . As a Simon Temple A . M . E . Zion Church member , she served on the adult usher board . Soror McLaurin was preceded in death by her mother , Mary E . Barecliff . She leaves to cherish her memory Jasper McLaurin ( husband ), Mikayla Staten ( daughter ), Aiden , Jaslynn , Jasiah , and Jasper McLaurin ( stepchildren ), William C . Barecliff ( father ), Carlton Barecliff ( brother ), Cheri Barecliff ( sister ), and a host of nephews , nieces , and friends .
Mann : Educator / Child Advocate / Silver Star
Denver , CO – Soror Katrina Mann , member of Epsilon Nu Omega , became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . Soror Mann attended Spelman College , where she was initiated into Mu Pi Chapter in 1981 and received her bachelor ' s degree . She later attended the University of Denver , earning a master ' s degree in early childhood education and a Ph . D . She worked for Denver Public Schools and was instrumental in developing the core curriculum for early childhood education and child advocacy programs . In addition , she gave voice to children who could not articulate their needs . Soror Mann was an educator who unselfishly gave of her time , talents , and resources , perpetuating the purposes and ideals of the sorority . Known for her sincere smile and warm embrace , she leaves to cherish her memory one son and three daughters — one who is her beloved legacy , Soror Vashawn Buckley .
Mills : Retired Educator
Rock Hill , SC — Soror Corneila " Connie " Walker Mills , age 94 , became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on April 5 , 2021 . She was initiated into Eta Alpha Omega in May 1978 . She attended Tuskegee Institute and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1948 . She acquired a Master of Education degree from Winthrop College in 1975 and completed further studies at Johnson C . Smith University . She taught in the Rock Hill School District at several elementary schools before moving to Sullivan Middle School , where she taught until her retirement in 1994 . In 1996 , she was named " Soror of the Year " and held the title of " The Oldest Active Soror " of Eta Alpha Omega Chapter . She enjoyed being a mentor to various students and sorority sisters . In addition , she was passionate about those who sought education as a profession . Two daughters , Soror Edwina " Wendi " Carter , and Angela Glenn , are among her survivors .
