Doubt : Police Officer / Silver Star
Pittsburgh , PA – Soror Cheryl Doubt , became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on June 30 , 2021 . Soror Doubt received her Bachelor of Arts in Urban Arts from the University of Pittsburgh and was initiated into the Iota Chapter in 1974 . Upon retiring from the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police after 36 years of service , she worked in various positions such as director and instructor at the Police Academy , commander of several district zones , and narcotics and vice commander . Before retiring in 2015 , she was the city ' s warrant office commander in charge . She was a loving person and adored her grandchildren . Left to cherish her memory are her two sons , Cory E . and Connor A . Doubt ; six grandchildren ; mother Shirley Doubt-Elston ; brothers Gregory and Mark Doubt ( Mary ); and a host of nieces , nephews , cousins , friends , and sorority sisters . Soror Doubt ' s spirit will be remembered by those she touched .
Draper : Retired Educator / Piano Teacher / Golden Soror
Chester , PA – Golden Soror Dorothy Kathleen Maddox Draper , became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on April 18 . 2021 , at the age of 82 . Soror Draper was initiated into Theta Iota Chapter on the campus of West Chester University and received both a BS in music education and a master ' s degree in Gifted Education . She was a charter member of Tau Delta Omega Chapter . She spent over 35 years teaching before retiring . After retirement , Soror Draper used her gifts as an educator to work as an assistant librarian . In addition , she taught piano from her home , providing lessons for the novice and the more experienced student . Soror Draper was a lifetime member of her church and remained active throughout her illness . She is survived by her devoted daughter and only child , Kelli Danielle , sisters Janet Jones and Jean Hackett , grandsons Justin and Jordan , Godson , Goddaughter , many nieces , nephews , cousins , family , students , and friends .
Duncan : Episcopal Priest / Life Member
Richmond , VA – Soror Barbara Thomkins Duncan became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . Soror Duncan was initiated into Alpha Epsilon Chapter at Virginia State University , serving as basileus and chorale assistant director of Upsilon Omega Chapter in Richmond , VA , basileus of Zeta Omega Chapter in Wilmington , DE , and a charter member of Sigma Zeta Omega Chapter in Newark , DE . She received a BA at VSU ) and a MA from West Chester University in music and her Doctorate of Ministry from the Graduate Theological Foundation in Indiana . She taught music in Newark for over ten years and was active in several appointed and elected organizations . She became an ordained Episcopal Priest in the Diocese of Delaware and retired as the first woman of color appointed as Canon of the Cathedral . In addition , she served as a priest in residence at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Richmond . Soror Barbara was the widow of Louis " Skip " Duncan . She is survived by her four children and a host of relatives and friends .
Dunn : Retired Educator / Servant Leader / Silver Star / Life Member
Augusta , GA – Soror Mamie Cummings Dunn became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . She was initiated into Zeta Xi Omega Chapter on March 31 , 1979 , remaining an active member until passing . Soror Dunn served the chapter in many roles , including basileus . She retired from the Richmond County Board of Education after 30 years . She was a servant leader in many organizations , including a Life Member of the NAACP , National Association of University Women , and the Augusta Alumni Chapter of Silhouettes of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity , Inc . She volunteered with her husband with the Downtown Cooperative Church Ministries . She was a lifelong member of Tabernacle Baptist Church , serving in many capacities . Her husband predeceased her , Mr . James H . Dunn , Jr . Soror Dunn leaves to cherish her memory daughters : Soror Lisa Dunn Alford ( Keith ), Soror Kathy Dunn , Soror Sonya Dunn Brailsford ( Darrell ); sister , Soror Nellie Cummings Hampton ; grandchildren : Soror Alexandria Johnson , Soror Lauren Johnson , Caleb Alford , and Chloe Brailsford ; along with other relatives and friends .
Durant : Retired Educator / Diamond Soror / Life Member
Florence , SC – Soror Roberta Samuel Dannelly Durant became an Ivy Beyond the Wall on May 10 , 2021 . She earned a BS degree from South Carolina State College ( University ) and an MA degree from Teachers College Columbia University , New York City , with further study at Francis Marion University and South Carolina State University . Soror Durant was a charter member of the Epsilon Chi Omega Chapter , served as president , and achieved Diamond Soror status honoring her 75 years in the sorority . She taught school for 33 years and began at Bettis Academy and Junior College in Trenton , South Carolina . During World War II , she worked for the US Employment Service in Wilmington , North Carolina . In addition , she taught at Palmetto Elementary school , Little Rock Elementary school , and several other schools . She was a loyal and active member of Cumberland United Methodist Church , where she served on many committees and boards .
Eugere : Retired Principal / Pearl Soror / Life Member
Houston , Texas – Pearl Soror Yolande Rousseve Eugere became an Ivy Beyond the Wall . Soror Yolande Eugere was a proud 68-year member of the sorority . Soror Eugere was initiated in Beta Phi Chapter at Xavier University in New Orleans on April 27 , 1952 . She was a member of Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter and The Ivy Educational and Charitable Foundation of Houston , Inc . She served with pride on the Ticketron and life-long learning committees . She was a former elementary school principal and loved all students and staff . She served in the community as a member of the Smart Financial Credit Union Board , volunteered at Dominic Center and the Houston Food Bank , and was an avid blood donor . Survivors include her husband , Edward , son Edward , daughters Soror Jan Kennedy , Gail Eugere , and Lisa Tyson , a host of nieces , nephews , friends , and many sorors who worked alongside Soror Yolande in sisterhood and service .
