Alpha Gamma Omega Hosts Panel Discussion on COVID-19
Los Angeles , CA – Alpha Gamma Omega Chapter hosted a COVID-19 panel discussion entitled , " COVID-19 and Its Impact on Communities of
Xi Gamma Omega presented five virtual Target workshops at the Community Expo .

The health committee focused on Target 2 ( women ' s healthcare and wellness ), in conjunction with Lambda Chi Omega Chapter ( Hawaii ), our community partners - Golden State Medical Association , Los Angeles NAACP and Aloha Hawaii Medical Society . Our panelists included Toya Kelley , M . D . ( President Aloha Hawaii Medical Society ) along with the following Golden State Medical Association members – Anne Staveren M . D ., William King M . D , and Oliver Brooks M . D . The discussion topics targeted the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccination from both a local and global perspective – disparities and the importance of vaccination in minority communities , how the vaccine works in the human body , how it was developed , and the COVID-19 pandemic ' s effects in Africa . Lastly , the discussion was opened to attendees to ask questions regarding COVID-19 vaccination concerns ( e . g ., different types , side effects , safe for women , etc .). There were 109 attendees .
Xi Gamma Omega Presents Virtual Community Expo
Oakland , CA – Xi Gamma Omega Chapter in partnership with the Twenty Pearls Foundation launched its first virtual Community Expo . The Community Service Chairman , Roma Groves-Waters coordinated the chapters multi-committee collaboration with 200 community members and chapter sorors in attendance . Basileus Kimberly Mayfield-Lynch delivered the welcome , the featured speakers Oakland ' s District 3 Councilmember , Carroll Fife and Soror Kimi Watkins-Tartt , our Alameda County public health director provided COVID-19 pandemic statistical insight and updates . During the Zoom expo , the chapter offered informative workshops presented by the five target committees in breakout rooms . Target 1 : HBCU 4 Life Co-chairmen , Sorors Ashely Burns and lmani Cooper facilitated the historical Black college admissions workshop . Target 2 : Women ' s Health and Wellness Co-chairmen , Sorors Janine Mixon and
Nina Greenwood lead the women ' s health workshop focusing on heart disease . Target 3 : Economic Legacy Chairman , Soror Shauna Harper delivered the economics you need to know workshop , Target 4 : The Arts ! Chairman , Soror Thomisha Booker facilitated the arts programs in the bay workshop , and Target 5 : Global Impact Chairman , Halima Dorson- Franklin enlightened participants of the global impact workshop .
Eta Gamma Omega Holds Virtual Juneteenth Celebration
Sacramento , CA – Eta Gamma Omega Chapter Arts Committee , through an ongoing partnership with Sacramento ' s B Street Theater , hosted its 2021 Juneteenth Showcase virtually , honoring the contributions of African Americans from the time their African ancestors were first brought to America ' s shores to June of 1865 and beyond . The showcase " Despite Liberty Deferred : A Resilient People Persist , Persevere , and Press On " displayed powerful storytelling and performance that is at the core of African American resilience . Key showcase components included spoken word , dance , and musical performances , along with a live post event and Q & A segment led by Dr . Margaret Fortune , long time community advocate and educator , as well as President and CEO of Fortune Schools . Among the various locally , regionally , and nationally curated content were many youth voices , including a recitation by the children and grandchildren of HFS1 members . Event organizer , Soror Renata Bass , along with the entire arts committee was pleased to present a showcase that engaged and educated , as well as inspired attendees to reflect on Juneteenth as a pivotal moment in American history .
Epsilon Xi Omega Holds 65th Annual Ball Virtually
San Diego , CA – Epsilon Xi Omega Chapter celebrated the culmination of their Leadership AKAdemy season with their first virtual Leadership AKAdemy Ball . The Leadership AKAdemy Chairman , Soror Patricia Grooms-Jones , and immediate past basileus , Soror Deborah Davis- Gillespie , envisioned a virtual ball to include the expected elements and more . The 2020 Ball was themed " Ebony Pearls ... Honoring our Heritage , Creating New Memories and Legacies .” Families from San Diego and beyond viewed the virtual ball as it was live streamed on AKA San Diego ' s YouTube
