Xi Tau Omega supported the Grandview Assistance Program ( GAP ) by donating non-perishable items and collecting monetary donations . Thank you to Soror Mya Lawrence and members of the committee for their work in serving the GAP community . Chapter members collected over 50 bags of non-perishable items along with monetary donations totaling $ 525.00 . Xi Tau Omega Celebrates " Pink Goes Red for Heart Health " with " Stretch and Stroll : Move Your Body for Heart Health " virtual event . Over 40 sorors participated in this zoom event to get their hearts pumping . Soror Brandy Pilacios supported sorors with a virtual Yoga Class of various yoga poses and moves such as " warrior one " and " warrior two ." She explained the health benefits of stretching daily and how this alone can positively impact the heart . Next , Soror Korri Hall explained the benefits of healthy eating and making wise choices when preparing food . We concluded this epic evening as Soror Renita Shelton taught sorors how to " move and " stroll ' their way into fitness .
Delta Epsilon Omega Hosts Global Impact Awareness Day
Omaha , NE – In support of Target 5 : the Global Impact committee of Delta Epsilon Omega Chapter hosted a virtual Global Impact Awareness Day event , " Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service ." The event was a two-part series . Part one included two speakers sharing their testimonies as refugees living in America . Dr . Annie Kinwa-Muzinga , professor at Morningside College in Sioux City , Iowa , and Yorda Abreha , a biology major at the University of Nebraska at Omaha . The event targeted the sorority ' s Global Assistance Activity , focusing on refugees of color in the United States . The Global Assistance Activity includes partnering with organizations engaging in support activities that assist refugees and their families in integrating into American life . A question-and-answer session was conducted after testimonies were shared . Part two of the Global Impact Awareness virtual event announced our sock drive . Sorors of Delta Epsilon Omega collected 300 pairs of socks during the drive . The socks were donated to the Refugee Empowerment Center in Omaha , Nebraska .
Alpha Upsilon Omega Focuses on Juneteenth Celebration

Alpha Upsilon Omega walks for health and wellness .
Celebrating 100 Years of Ivy Leaf ® Magazine the Guthrie , Logan County Annual Juneteenth Celebration when President Biden declared the 19th of June a national holiday . The celebration attracted over 300 participants to the Guthrie Fairgrounds and Park . The chapter ' s booth was arranged with information and presentations on four target programs . Target 1 : # CAP SM – HBCU for Life . Information was provided for choosing an HBCU , scholarships , and means of accessing information for juniors and seniors . Target 2 : Women ' s Health Care and Wellness – Thirty participants received information and pamphlets on " breast cancer " and the importance of annual mammograms . Sorors marched with over 150 other participants in the " Walk for Health and Wellness " at the fairgrounds . Target 3 : Building Economic Legacy – Tinker Air Force Credit Union provided booklets on financial fitness , credit card use , budgeting , financial aid for college , planning early for retirement , and other financial information . Target 5 : Global Impact – the committee coordinated , organized , and received more shoes at the Juneteenth Celebration .

Stillwater , OK – Soror Lynne Simpson , Upsilon Theta Omega Chapter , spearheaded efforts to bring The Bench by the Road Project of the International Toni Morrison Society to Oklahoma to commemorate the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre . The Bench by the Road Project places benches at critical locations in African American history . " Bench by the Road " is taken from Morrison ' s quote regarding , Beloved : " There is no place you or I can go , to think about or not think about , to summon the presences of , or recollect the absences of slaves . . . There is no suitable memorial , plaque , wreath , wall , park , or skyscraper lobby . There ' s no 300-foot tower and no small bench by the road . [...] And because such a place doesn ' t exist . . . the book had to " ( The World , 1989 ). This project was established by Soror Carolyn Denard , founder and board chair of the International Toni Morrison Society . Benches were placed at Greenwood Avenue and Archer Street , where the men defended the community from the mob , and outside the Mabel B . Little House , which honors the survivor , community leader , and activist Mabel B . Little . The Tulsa Rotary Club funded these benches . fall 2021 I vyL eaf ® 81
