Next , Motown Gospel recording artist , Gene Moore , serenaded our charter members and chartering regional director through song . The event was livestreamed on social media . We concluded with our " 10-Year celebration virtual dance party " that featured a live DJ . Sorors danced at home to the sounds of rhythm and blues , hip hop , and reggae while showcasing our 10-year logo on their t-shirts . Psi Mu Omega has been serving Pearland since 2011 and providing service through academic enrichment , community involvement , recreational activities , mentoring , and providing scholarships to our youth . Our impact in the community started with 26 members and has grown our sisterhood to over 200 members .

Alpha Tau Omega Ensures Seniors Receive COVID-19 Vaccinations
San Antonio , TX – Alpha Tau Omega Chapter , through its affiliate 501 ( c )( 4 ) non-profit Roseville Housing Trust of San Antonio , ensured that the elderly residents of the Roseville Apartments received COVID- 19 vaccinations . The chapter formed Roseville Housing Trust in 1970 to construct affordable housing units for low-income senior citizens on San Antonio ' s Eastside , a predominantly minority area of the city . Soror Janice Wilson , the onsite apartment manager , registered residents for vaccinations . In addition , Roseville Housing Trust arranged for a 50-passenger bus with wheelchair lifts to provide appropriately socially distanced transportation to and from the vaccination sites . A total of 34 Roseville residents and Roseville ' s three onsite staff members received two doses of the Pfizer vaccine . Soror O . Raye Adkins , the immediate Roseville Housing Trust past president , spearheaded this effort and assisted Soror JoAnn Harris , a registered nurse , and Soror Beverly C . Johnson and Soror Sandra Jolla , Roseville Housing Trust trustees , on the day of the vaccinations . The sorors accompanied residents to the site and assured their comfort throughout the process .
Alpha Alpha Nu Omega Builds Wealth by Investing in Black Art
Round Rock , TX – Alpha Alpha Nu Omega Chapter launched a threepart series titled " Art as an Asset " to support Target 3 : Economic Legacy , chaired by Soror ReShonda Gonzalez , and Target 4 : The Arts !, chaired by Soror Dionne Ayodele . Under the leadership of Program Committee Chairman Soror Tiffany Dudley , this series educated participants on Black art — defining it , collecting it , and investing in it as an asset to build financial wealth . Financial Literacy Month launched in April with an HBOMAX documentary entitled " Black Art : In the Absence of Light with David Diskell ,” which introduced the work of some of the foremost Black visual artists today . It was followed up with a two-part webinar / Facebook Live presentation by Cur8tors . Part I : " Owning Your Culture " focused on why we should support Black visual artists and what should be considered when exploring collecting Black art . Part II : " Art as an Investment " concentrates on the value of art as an asset and how Black art could be leveraged to build financial wealth . Attendees included artists and participants from across the United States .

Xi Nu Omega Assists in Preparing for College
Chicago , IL – Monarch Awards Foundation , Inc ., the charitable arm of Xi Nu Omega Chapter , presented " No Cap / No Lie Making Preparations for College " Zoom event geared towards high school juniors and seniors . In partnership with Metropolitan Family Services / Calumet , the Vice President / Program Chairman Soror Shannon Staton opened the event . The four sessions equipped participants with tangible resources for their college preparation . The first session , " The Real Deal : A Family ' s Guide to College ", was presented by Soror Lisa Lyons . The session covered topics on scholarships , college types , resources colleges provide , and the possible effect a student ' s educational maturation can have on the family dynamic . In the second session , Soror Passion Williamson-Bandele presented " Writing Personal Statements ." She provided insights on the purpose and goal of writing personal statements , including pointers to fill the gaps that cannot be told through an academic transcript .
