Pi Alpha Omega Partners to Develop the ESL Mentorship Program
Atlanta , GA – To enhance the international footprint , Pi Alpha Omega Chapter will serve as a community partner with the Atlanta Public School system by volunteering with the English as a Second Language ( ESL ) program to provide mentorship , tutoring , and life skills to adults of limited English proficiency in Atlanta ' s international community . Chapter members will also curate volunteer service projects to help students embrace American culture , including hosting tours of Atlanta attractions , serving as guest speakers on various topics , and assisting with job readiness training . This partnership will allow chapter members to work with students from global populations , including Colombia , China , Turkey , Brazil , Thailand , Mexico , Iraq , Senegal , and Gabon . Chi Tau Omega Target 2 Women ' s Health committee presents virtual Lupus awareness forum .
Covington , GA – Chi Tau Omega Chapter , Target 2 Women ' s Health Committee , hosted a virtual conversation during Lupus Awareness Month . The conversation , hosted by Dr . Alisha Johnson with guest speaker , Rheumatologist Dr . Wambui Machua , conveyed information that addressed the common signs and symptoms , testing , medications , and the physical , emotional , and economic impacts of Lupus , especially on women , in communities of color . The event included special guests who shared their stories of being Lupus warriors and caregivers . Over 100 viewers tuned in to learn about this disease and find resources to sustain living and caring for someone with Lupus . The speakers engaged the audience by sharing their living journeys with a diagnosis of Lupus . The event included audience participation with questions from chapter members and the community . One of the event ' s highlights was Dr . Alisha Johnson ' s business offered a purple candle made exclusively to support

Lambda Epsilon Omega Hosts Virtual Pink Goes Red
Decatur , GA – Lambda Epsilon Omega Chapter kicked off their annual Pink Goes Red with three virtual events . Pink Goes Red kicked off with an education and Q & A session with renowned cardiologist Dr . Rachel Bond . Dr . Bond is a women ' s heart health and prevention specialist . She has devoted her career to treating heart disease through early detection , education , and prevention . She shared several tips on ways to take care of our hearts with diet and nutrition and took questions from the audience . The next event focused on food and learning how nutrients and calories work together . This session , Nutrition for Life , was presented by Soror Anita B . Washington . Soror Washington educated the audience on reading nutrition labels and demystified

how to calculate fat , carbohydrates , and proteins for the actual serving size . The final event of Pink Goes Red week was a Zumba + Zoom dance party . Zumba class was taught by IAMTRUFitness and gave everyone a heart-pumping workout . The night ended with a dance party with Pretty Tammi , the DJ providing music that gave participants another opportunity to get their heart rates up .
Sigma Omega Omega Receives Donations to Restock Pink Pantry
Douglasville , GA – Sigma Omega Omega Chapter sustains and restocks the Pink Pantry with our long-standing partner Eastside Elementary . Throughout the years , we hosted a community event to welcome guests to donate nonperishable foods and gently used clothing , but this event was no longer held during the pandemic . We had to think differently and elicit help from larger organizations . With one of our local community partners , The Legacy of Pearls Foundation 501c3 organization requested donations from local grocery stores , Publix , Kroger , and international food distributor PepsiCo . Our total collections included four pallets of various foods , including cereals , granola bars , oatmeal , quick-ready meals , drinks , and snacks . With the abundance of donations received , we had enough to donate 50 boxes of food to another local elementary school . We are so grateful for the Sigma Omega Omega members restock Pink Pantry .
