The chapter reported 398 confirmed vaccinations due to the chapter ' s efforts . Out of this total , 71 % represent sorors , their family and friends , and citizens of the surrounding Tidewater community who are over 60 years old . Throughout this endeavor , UOO developed a network of churches , nonprofit organizations , pharmacies , local governments , and other Divine-9 organizations . Nevertheless , the UOO chapter identified a need aligning with our beloved sorority ' s mission , and we will persevere through the challenges of this pandemic by providing " service to all mankind ."
Pi Rho Omega Celebrates 2021 Young Writers
N . Chesterfield , VA – The Pi Rho Omega Chapter partnered with the public schools in Chesterfield County and Richmond , Virginia , with the idea of looking for budding authors . The chapter sponsored the Young Writers Program open to all elementary Chesterfield and Richmond Public Schools for the sixteenth year . The Young Writers Program supports young writers ' reading , writing , and publication of stories . The sorority encourages students in grades 3 , 4 , and 5 to compose reports for one of three topics provided by the chapter . The Young Writers Awards Program was held virtually and celebrated the talents of 128 storytellers who may one day become published authors . Thirteen elementary schools were represented : Alberta Smith , Bensely , Bon Air , Crenshaw , Enon , G . H . Reid , Gordon , J . B . Watkins , Linwood Holton , Marguerite Christian , Old Hundred , Patrick Henry , and Spring Run . Congratulations to our first-place winners , Caleb Lyons , Bensley Elementary , Landon Strunk , Alberta Smith Elementary , and Evan Gregory , JB Watkins Elementary . Each 1st place winner was given an Amazon Fire 7 Tablet . Each 2nd and 3rd place winner received a gift card . All participants received a certificate , and each school received a framed certificate to adorn their school .
Lambda Lambda Omega Recognizes World Refugee Day
Williamsburg , VA – In honor of World Refugee Day 2021 , the Lambda Lambda Omega Chapter ' s Target 5 Committee presented Commonwealth Catholic Charities ( CCC ) of VA – Resettlement Services with an Amazon gift card for $ 200 . This donation will contribute towards the CCC , helping these individuals achieve stability and equipping them with the skills and guidance they need to begin their new lives in the United States .

Lambda Omicron Omega Leads the Fight Against COVID-19
Bradenton , FL – The virus not only disrupted our daily activities but led to a dramatic loss of human life . Although there is no treatment readily available for the virus , wearing coverings and getting vaccines to help slow the spread . In these unprecedented times , the health of our communities depends largely on each of us taking responsibility to assist others , especially our most vulnerable . As part of the # AKAsWearMasks initiative , the ladies of the Lambda Omicron Omega Chapter have continued to do their part to combat the spread of Covid-19 . From fall 2020 to spring 2021 , the chapter has donated over 1,350 facemasks and 608 hand sanitizers to local schools , organizations , and shelters in Sarasota and Manatee Counties . Recipients have included Booker Middle School , Turning Point Homeless Shelter , the Salvation Army Shelter , and many more . Special gratitude is extended to the Sarasota County Health Department and Premier Pure Hand Sanitizer for contributions to our cause .

Coral Springs , FL – Chi Psi Omega hosted a refugees welcome event in partnership with the U . S . Committee for Refugees and immigrants , an organization in South Florida that serves females ages 13-18 years old by providing room and board , medical services , case management , and life skills . The organization , licensed by the Department of Children and Families and serves over 70 unaccompanied minors from South America and African countries , also works to unite the young ladies with family members in the United States . Over 85 participants attended the sorors-only virtual workshop , which was co-hosted by Zeta Rho Omega Chapter ( Fort Lauderdale , FL ), Kappa Kappa Omega Chapter ( Pompano Beach , FL ), and Alpha Alpha Beta Omega ( Miramar , FL ) to learn about the challenges the young ladies experience when they come to the U . S . and how the U . S . Committee for Refugees and Immigrants provides services to address these challenges . At the conclusion of the event , Chi Psi Omega coordinated a collection drive of hygiene items , young adult books , and warm weather clothing to benefit the young ladies residing at the Refugee Center .
