The chapter ended the day with their Real Talk : Covid-19 Vaccine and Communities of Color event . The keynote speaker , Dr . Edith Peterson Mitchell , gave a realistic view regarding the high rate of virus infection within minority communities and addressed our fear and distrust

Iota Tau Omega Holds Global Films Series
West Chester , PA – Iota Tau Omega Chapter hosted online campaigns via Facebook and movie streaming services to highlight our commitment to global engagement and global advocacy . In 2021 , refugees are especially vulnerable in terms of inadequate healthcare and food insecurity . The chapter and community viewed " Rain Is Beautiful ," the second short film episode of Omar ' s journey as told in the video " Life on hold ." The series offers education on the time and intensity of the resettlement process . In the film , we join Omar as he is about to leave the Choucha refugee camp at the Tunisian border , fly to a new life in Sweden , complete the resettlement process , which has been a long multi-year operation which is a typical wait period for most refugees , and arrive at the airport for the first steps of his resettlement in the country .

Sigma Tau Omega Assists Caregivers
Cary , NC – Target 2 : Care for Caregivers Committee of Sigma Tau Omega Chapter is ensuring caregivers are protected , and their health is prioritized while providing care to others . Chapter sorors created 60 caregiver packages with the following : six masks ; two hand sanitizers ; two face shields ; manicure set ; flashlight ; handheld fan ; pocket mirror ; heating / cooling gel pack ; lunch bag ; nail buffer board ; pens ; an educational guide , " Achieve Healthier Lifestyle ," a guide on healthy snacks ; a " My Health Action Plan " guide and a " Check Into A Better Me " health guide . All items were donated by Food Lion , North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Cancer and Control Branch , Comprehensive Cancer Control Program , Wake County Human Services , HIV / STD Community Program , Wake County Human Services , Social & Economic Vitality Program . The company provides highquality senior care throughout Wake County , including Sigma Tau Omega ' s Cary , Fuquay-Varina , and Apex service areas . Sorors coordinated efforts with Laura Jefferson , recruitment and engagement coordinator at Home Instead in Raleigh , and presented her with the caregiver packages .
Rho Psi Omega Holds Community Sew-A-Thon
Charlotte , NC – Rho Psi Omega Chapter - Target 5 Global Impact Committee divided the 2021 Global Impact Day into two parts . The first part of the 2021 Global Impact Day started with a virtual sewing slumber party for chapter members . During the virtual slumber party , chapter member Kim Coston gave a live demonstration on sewing a t-shirt for boys in Haiti . The second part of our 2021 Global Impact Day was done over an entire month with a community sew-athon . The chapter invited the community to help support Soles4Souls in their mission to provide shirts and dresses to boys and girls in Haiti by mailing us donations of shirts and dresses to add to

With the support of our dedicated chapter members and community , we donated and shipped 82 t-shirts for boys and 122 dresses for girls .
