Laurel , MD – Psi Epsilon Omega Chapter donated more than 25,000 items of personal protective equipment . The chapter provided masks , gloves , and hand sanitizer , among other items , to Oaklands Elementary School . " This donation means everything to us because we haven ' t had to spend our school funds on things like wipes , gloves , or masks that are a necessity for students who are returning to the building and staff as well ," said Jewel Preston , Oaklands Elementary School principal . " I don ' t know what we would do without Pi Epsilon Omega Chapter ." " More than 120 families have been served through the ' Comfort Closet .' We are thrilled to support our adopt-a-school Oaklands Elementary with necessary PPE supplies like masks , hand sanitizers , gloves , and cleaning products ," said Benita A . Swindell , Psi Epsilon Omega Basileus . The chapter recognizes the importance of keeping students , teachers , faculty , and staff safe as they return to the classroom .

short and long-term side effects , and media coverage . The session ended with a Q & A segment , which was extended due to the volume of questions . The event drew a sizeable audience as attendees tuned in live , garnering more than 2.7k viewers and over 500 pageviews to our Facebook in one day . Given the audience size and success of the event , plans are in the works for a Part 2 , post-pandemic edition with Dr . Gupta .
Pi Theta Omega Celebrates Black Women in the Arts
Morristown , NJ – Pi Theta Omega Chapter celebrated Black Women in the Arts during The Harlem Renaissance Era and The Black Arts Movement . The chapter ' s Target 4 : The Arts ! The committee led by Soror Norma Jean Mackey sponsored the virtual evening , highlighting extraordinary Black women artists and their works beginning with the Harlem Renaissance during the 1920s-1930s . The event celebrated the legacies of Black women artists of the era who dealt with issues unique to both their gender and race . The virtual presentation featured artists Edmonia Lewis and Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller . Black female artists of the Black Arts Movement ( BAM ) ( the 1960s-1970s ) were also highlighted , extraordinary women who tackled major issues of ongoing importance very much akin to those addressed decades earlier . This second half of the presentation included prominent Black female artists of the era who explored , through their artistry , themes such as racism , sexism , social class , and capitalism . The lives and art of such greats as Sonia Sanchez , Nikki Giovanni , Mari Evans , Audre Lorde , and Gwendolyn Brooks were highlighted . The chapter concluded the event by recognizing the 2021 winners of the chapter ' s annual youth and teen " Express Yourself " Black History Month Arts contest . The winners were students of the chapter ' s # CAP SM and AKA Gems programs who submitted artwork , poetry , essays .

Nu Xi Omega Celebrates 40 Years of Service

New Brunswick , NJ – Nu Xi Omega Chapter celebrated 40 years of longevity and service to the community . A virtual celebration tea of nearly 150 attendees reminisced and enjoyed the journey that began on December 6 , 1980 , in the Middlesex and Somerset Counties of New Jersey . A total amount of $ 625 was raised with proceeds donated to benefit Elijah ' s Promise in New Brunswick , New Jersey to support their food bank , soup kitchen , and culinary programs in the New Brunswick community ,
