This activity was the first COVID-19 restrictive event permitted in Cluster I of the North Atlantic Region . Following the social distancing protocol , the chapter collected 1,077 shoes for Soles4Souls . In addition , Target 5 , in collaboration with Target 3 , is partnered with a Blackowned UPS Store to ship the shoes monthly . In support of the chapter ' s other Target 5 initiatives , Rho Xi Omega collected 77 eyeglasses for Lions Clubs International , 22 pillowcases for the Pillowcase Project , and $ 500 in gift cards for Global Impact Day .
Upsilon Epsilon Omega Hosts Inaugural Women ' s Roundtable
Baltimore County Women ' s Roundtable Participants , from conversation to action hosted by Upsilon Epsilon Omega Chapter .
Catonsville , MD – Upsilon Epsilon Omega Chapter hosted its inaugural Women ' s Roundtable , highlighting the countless efforts of black women in the Baltimore County area . The conversation provoked discussion and encouraged awareness of the political process to better communities of color . This event garnered over 1,000 virtual event attendees across Facebook to engage in a series of impactful conversations . With civic engagement at the forefront , the event theme celebrated the importance of the social justice landscape : social justice , staying civically engaged , and a conversation to action . Attendees were enriched in conversation and provided resources to impact their local community directly . Guests posed questions centered around Covid-19 resilience and sustaining during times of crisis . Panelists outlined a blueprint for both guests and supporters alike to make a difference collectively within their community .
Iota Lambda Omega Salutes the Harlem Renaissance
Columbia , MD – Iota Lambda Omega Chapter and its charitable affiliate , the Pearl Foundation , Inc ., hosted a virtual concert , Ode to the Harlem Renaissance . The concert featured students from Morgan State University , a public historically black research university in Baltimore , Maryland , and the largest of Maryland ' s HBCUs . The talented musicians included Brandon McKoy , Darrin Scott , Deryus Carter , David Reeves , and Devin Funderburk . The hour-long concert , held via Zoom and Facebook Live , featured gospel ,

blues , and jazz songs popular during the Harlem Renaissance . The selections were reminiscent of that time and included the students ' rich tones of modern flare . The concert reached more than 50 attendants via Zoom , and it was shared over 600 times on Facebook . The Arts ! Committee , under the leadership of Program Chairman Soror Angela L . Williams and Target 4 Chairmen Sorors April Randall and Anita Hardy , raised $ 300 to donate to Morgan State University ' s Department of Fine and Performing Arts .
Upsilon Tau Omega Supports Programs of Service
Fort Washington , MD – Upsilon Tau Omega Chapter sorors implemented virtual programs of service activities . The chapter ' s # CAP SM committee sponsored a virtual discussion , " Let ' s Talk-First Year of College ," during which current college students and recent graduates shared tips with incoming freshmen on having a successful first year academically and socially . Working with Southern Prince George ' s County Community Charities , Inc ., the chapter provided scholarships to 17 students . The global impact committee held a virtual " Sip N Sew " event to make dresses / shirts out of pillowcases for Haitian children . They also collected shoes and eyeglasses for our international program outreach . The economic legacy committee received 100 entries for Black Dollar 365 . Also , the risk management committee held a webinar to help sorors identify risk elements for the chapter . Lastly , the health committee sponsored a thriving virtual community walk to improve everyone ' s heart health .
Xi Sigma Omega Promotes Healthy Eating and Sisterly Relations
Gaithersburg , MD – Xi Sigma Omega Chapter ' s Target 2 , Nutrition for Life , collaborated with sisterly relations for a great evening of fellowship , sisterly fun , and education during a virtual plant and sip ! The workshop featured an urban agriculturalist , Xavier Brown of Soilful City , based in Washington , DC . He provided tips and demonstrations on starting and growing a successful container garden . At the same time , chapter members sipped their favorite beverages , planted different herbs and vegetables , and played herb and plant-related trivia games during the workshop . The fun continues after the workshop as chapter members share their plant progress and use their harvested herbs in healthy recipes . Due to the event ' s success , the chapter plans to expand the workshop and host a community event to educate on planting a personal garden and encourage healthy eating .
