Xi Zeta Omega Launches Podcast
Washington , DC – Xi Zeta Omega Chapter took an innovative approach to address Target 3 : Building Your Economic Legacy . Sorors Monica Miles , Zaunder Saucer , and L ' Ornya Bowie launched Money Mommas The Podcast in May 2021 . This project consisted of four podcasts on building your credit and credit repair . The culminating program consisted of a credit repair boot camp webinar where participants could obtain their credit scores , review their credit reports , and identify and correct any errors . In addition , participants learned strategies for maintaining good credit , and one webinar participant was awarded $ 1,000 , which was directly applied to pay down their outstanding debts . Alpha Alpha Mu Omega Hosts Virtual Events
Georgetown , DE – Alpha Alpha Mu Omega Chapter hosts virtual Harlem Renaissance paint night for ten 7th and 8th-grade students . This Target 4 project involved students learning about several artists from the Harlem Renaissance , including Cab Calloway , Langston Hughes , Ella Fitzgerald , and Louis Armstrong . After viewing videos of each , students were quizzed on their knowledge and given prizes for their expertise . The students were then treated to the artistic talents of Kevin Solomon Jr ., who led them in the painting of a portrait of Louis Armstrong holding his trumpet . In addition , Alpha Alpha Mu Omega Connection Committee held two virtual sessions promoting mental wellness and resilience . The first focused on adult mental wellness , and the second focused on mental wellness in children . Alpha Alpha Mu Omega partnered with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority , Inc , Delta Alpha Beta Zeta Chapter , and Delaware Harambe Association of Black Social Workers to host this event . The event featured experts throughout the field of mental health and Delaware ' s Lt . Governor , Bethany Hall-Long . Each spoke about their area of expertise , followed by an extensive question and answer session .
Zeta Omega and Lambda Gamma Hold Virtual Awards Ceremony
Wilmington , DE – In recognition of Dr . King ' s life and teachings , Zeta Omega and Lambda Gamma Chapters collaborated to honor community leaders for their outstanding contributions to helping others through the pandemic . During the Impact Day event , Making Leaders Known , A Celebration of Everyday Heroes !, honorees from the greater Wilmington and University of Delaware communities were awarded in the following categories : essential worker ( Service to All Award ), educator / mentor ( Dream Maker Award ), first responder ( Heart of Courage Award ), family
Celebrating 100 Years of Ivy Leaf ® Magazine provider ( Infinite Hope Award ), community helper ( Making a Difference Award ), an outstanding student ( Programming of Excellence Award ). Nominees were selected from a pool of individuals nominated by residents , and their contributions were highlighted during the ceremony . The program focused on the accomplishments of each of the six winners . After the event , a certificate and a personalized award were delivered to each winner . The award ceremony , hosted by Soror Frankie Darcell of Philadelphia ' s WDAS 105.3 FM , was open to the public and attended by many community and family members from near and far .

Psi Omega Celebrates 95 Years of Service

Roxbury , MA – The Psi Omega Chapter celebrated 95 years of service in 2021 . Chartered in February 1926 on the campus of Harvard University , seven women came together in the spirit of sisterhood , scholarship , and service . As the oldest graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority , Incorporated ® in New England , the chapter has maintained an ongoing

commitment to promote leadership development among Black women , support scholarship awards to promising young Black students , and provide financial assistance to several organizations essential to the welfare of Black people . The chapter celebrated the historical achievement with a virtual ceremony featuring a video presentation on the charter members , testimonies from Golden Soror Carmen Fields , who knew several of the charter members , and a look ahead to the chapter ' s goals for the future . In addition , an array of virtual events will be held throughout the year to celebrate the history , legacy , and sisterhood of Psi Omega and its members .
