Glimps Co-Edits Third Book
Golden Soror Blanche Jackson Glimps , of Pi Nu Omega Chapter in Murfreesboro , TN ., has co-edited her third book . The book Religion and Racism : Exploring the Paradox-Can you be a Christian and a Racist ? takes a look at European colonizers , armed with the Bible and deep-seated belief in racial superiority , who came to shape most of the world as we know it today . The result has been an unequal control of the world ' s resources and vastly disparate living standards for people of color and whites , both internationally and within specific nations . As a result , people of color have been treated as highly valued commodities while simultaneously being stripped of their humanity — with the sanction of the Christian faith . The book is a follow-up to Gender and Diversity Issues in Religious- Based Institutions and Organizations and # Me Too Issues in Religious-Based Institutions and Organizations . Jones Co-Edits University-Level Textbook
Soror Brenda Martin Jones , Ph . D ., LPC , NCC , CSC , co-edited a university-level textbook entitled Child and Adolescent Counseling : An Integrated Approach , published June 2021 . The book can be adopted as the primary textbook for a variety of class settings . It will also appeal to educators , counselors-in-training , counseling , social work , and psychology supervisors . Soror Jones is a clinical assistant professor at The University of Texas at San Antonio . She is the recipient of the Texas Counseling Association , 2017 Professional Writing Award for co-editing Child and Adolescent Counseling Case Studies : Developmental , Relational , Multicultural , and Systemic Perspectives . In 2018 , she received a national award from the Association of Counselor Education and Supervision Outstanding Article Award for writing published in the Journal of Counselor Education and Supervision . In addition , she serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Creativity in Mental Health , the Journal of School Counseling , is the past president for Texas Association of Counselor Education and Supervision , has made presentations on counseling issues , and served professionally at the local , state , and national levels .
Lewis Publishes First Book
Soror Kathryn Streeter Lewis , a member of Omega Omega Chapter in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , published her first book When The Unlikely Are Chosen . She presents a memoir dedicated to her father that exposes a time when many impediments were placed in the paths of marginalized and economically disadvantaged children , especially girls , who aspired beyond entrenched boundaries . Remnants of that time remain . It also underscores the importance of fatherhood , family , and the vision required within the village to raise a child , not just to become a lawyer but to prepare for a productive and gratifying life . After more than twenty years of dedicated service as a trial judge for the Court of Common Pleas in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania , Soror Lewis officially retired in 2019 . On March 21 , 2021 , the history and archives and book club committees hosted a free Virtual Pearls of Wisdom Women ' s History Month Celebration and Book Party for chapter members that featured Soror Lewis to discuss her riveting book , When The Unlikely Are Chosen . The intent of their book , Mindful Strategies for Helping College Students Manage Stress : A Guide for Higher Education Professionals ( Dye , Burke , & Mason , 2021 ), is to offer insights and information about the what , why , and how of using mind-body-spiritual and community connections , wiring of the brain , researched decision-making processes , and mindful strategies to help reduce the stress and anxiety of college students . Higher education professionals are often the first to encounter students experiencing mental distress , which can be communicated through conversations with them , their academic performance , and their behavior on campus . They are uniquely positioned to support , coach , and teach strategies to those whose stress and anxiety impact their unproductive ways . The co-authors have found that when students are taught to move forward as active participants in their change and growth , they are more successful when using mindfulness strategies and reflective decision-making to improve their overall well-being .
Messeroux Publishes New Book
Soror Tricia Messeroux of Theta Iota Omega Chapter in Long Island , ( Suffolk / Nassau Counties ), N . Y ., recently released her latest book , the Toddlewood Engineers of Equality Project . She is the creative director / photographer of Toddlewood , a globally-acclaimed brand known for its kids ' recreations into iconic , highprofile celebrities & role models . Messeroux & Toddlewood has been regularly featured on The Tamron Hall Show , Access Hollywood , The Insider & CBS This Morning , to name a few . Soror Messeroux pivoted in 2020 and created Toddlewood Engineers of Equality Project to respond to the untimely deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor . She felt the responsibility to use art to creatively demonstrate African American history while educating kids and adults on the lives and legacies of civil rights trailblazers . Over 30 kids were carefully selected to appear as Toddlewood doppelgangers of such civil rights pioneers , including Dr . Martin Luther King , Jr . Muleta Presents Mother ' s Work
Soror Carol Muleta is a parenting strategist , radio personality , and 3x best-selling author . Aside from being the mother of twin sons , she has acquired extensive expertise in child development , parenting principles , and family dynamics which inform her work on the platform she created , The Parenting 411 . Last May , she released her first solo book project , Mother ' s Work : Pearls of Wisdom and Gems from my journey , published by her company , Return On Intelligence LLC .
